Cold start test

I got my relay today from Port and got it installed. Under the battery and behind the ECU it's the top row and first from the front of sled (seems different then the parts breakdown above) I've asked this before on the phazer forum and no one answered but how many more of those relays could be replace with the new solid-state relay that the fuel relay uses (8GN-81950-00-00) Mooseman is that reverse relay the same? I noticed the other day my sled didn't do anything when I would push the reverse button, I kept trying and it finally worked but I thought possibly my RPM's where too high but I think that should still make the light flash but not engage.

Sled is on the left of picture. top of picture is front of sled. Relay cluster is pulled away from sled for access to replace relay.

I think most of them except the Hi/lo beam, would fit. Definitely the load control relay is worth it and will fit. My son had problems with that one on his Phazer. I believe the fan one is also the same. The reverse ones might solve the issue if they are the same. Never thought about the relays causing that since I have had the same thing happen. My only solution to that problem was to turn off and re-start the sled.

If you look at them, all that look alike should work. I wouldn't bother with the one for the rear heated grips. The parts fiche gives 5 of one kind and 3 of another (doesn't explain which is for what). I think the ones the new relay replace are just "on/off" as opposed to the others that are "on/on" like hi/lo headlights. Those are slightly bigger, square and black.

Here's the kicker... The new relays are CHEAPER than the originals! ($12 vs $18 at Port Yamaha). Why aren't they superceding the old number with the new?

I need to swap out my fuel relay. I'd like to know if it's # 12 or the image above. I plan on doing it myself and the info here is contradictory. Thx

It seems to change from sled to sled. You sorta have to guess. From MNIcefisher, seems to be first one towards the front of the sled. I don't remember where it was on mine. Phazers seem to be all over the place. Just experiment until you find the right one. Pull a relay out and turn on the ignition. If you don't hear the fuel pump prime, that's it.

I don't know what causes that with the reverse where absolutely nothing happens. Could be when the fan is running it will not allow it due to current draw. I usually shut the sled down and restart it and it works. If it was the relays, the light would blink and get the weird beep but wouldn't shift. You could pull the relays for the reverse and it would still try to shift it. I don't think it's the relays. The only ones I would change are the fuel pump and load control relays.
