Was wondering if the viper will start at -40 like any other yamaha than cats and doo's left outside over night ? Cause i have seen cat's and doo's having trouble starting up in extreme cold condition's up here in remote place's of Alaska.Hair dryer mode for warming up,while my apex start's with an issue. :brrr:

If it's that cold, it's time to move. Why anyone would want to LIVE in Alaska is beyond me.

Why would we want to live here? So we don't have to live around people like you.

I don't think we've seen more than a dozen days below zero all winter in south central. I'll be riding sea level till June, how about you?

I've started my Nytro's at -35 in the interior a few times, might have to start it two or three times but never not started. Don't see why the viper would be any different.

I've started a lot of my machines at -45f. The four strokes started, the two strokes needed light bulbs and hair dryers an a lot of pulling. If you plan for the cold it's fine and they work great!

Why would anybody want to live anywhere else??? Seems silly to me.

I havent looked closely at throttlebodies on Nytro but on Phazer a coolant controlled Idle Air Control Valve is used. Most Auto and such use a stepper motor the stepper motor itself has proven unreliable in extreme conditions. If Viper uses Yamaha throttle bodies I would bet they use coolant controlled IACV and that is why it starts good in the cold consistently.

Fresh air, friendly people, freedom, wilderness, SNOW.

First to answer your question, yes I have no doubt it'll start in -40F temp.

And to chime in, I'd also LOVE to live in Alaksa. In fact, I'm considering buying land in Talkeetna because its such a beautiful state.
