2018 Sidewinder LTX SE
Last night my Sidewinder hit a tree, long story visor fogged and my daughter is okay. We were going slow through a narrow trail, probably made impact at 20-25 kmph. It was a direct hit to the RHS A arms, and shock. I have it all taken apart, some pictures are attached for the veterans on this site to give an opinion.

My question is how can I tell if the subframe is bent without ripping it apart further? Based on the pics would you expect the subframe to be bent? The upper a arm mounting post by the rad was bent inward, I had to bend it back out to remove the bolt. I figure once I get a new a upper a arm I’ll mount the rear one first and make sure the front post aligns. Other than that the Other upper and both lower mounts look to be in tact with no signs of cracked paint Stress or bending. Looking for any feedback from anyone who has done this work themselves. I don’t want to go through insurance as they will likely get it back later... PS also looking for parts as I’m sure it will be a challenge....

Glad no one was hurt !!! From the pictures , it looks like a simple replacement repair, but first check to the left of the chaincase for any buckle or wrinkle to the tunnel ( top edge to foot well). the lower
"A arm ears " look damage free as you stated, the upper ear one may need a tweak once you reassemble new parts. Also inspect that upper front ear for any signs of fracture when you bent back into position during disassembly, that is cast joint.
When tweaking that upper ear, apply a bit heat to prevent stress fracture, do not do it cold.
Looks like a pretty simple re & re....Lucky and glad no one was hurt.
Cheers
Rob

Imo inspect closely including tunnel to sub frame connections, broken rivets , do some measuring and if everything looks good get parts and ride..
My buddy bent the front bracket that holds bumper and intercooler.. it was easily replaced.
I have both his old ones here and one is fine.. I can check later if.it the right side for you
As for arm and spindle I know there are a few guys in Ontario that swapped to the new style arms. Maybe one of them would sell you there pre 20 spindles?

I’m glad that you’re guys ok, as far parts I do have a take offs front shocks with springs from my SE .

Do you have insurance take it to the dealer have them write you an estimated, who know could be totalled it don't take much now days I hate to see you buy a bunch of parts and the bulk head or something like that is messed up. Glad to here everyone is ok machines can be replaced.

I had an upper arm bend due to something falling onto it. Wasn't that expensive maybe $100, I'd guess lower arm costs about the same. Maybe take left arms off and turn up side down just to check fitment? If they still line up ok your probably good. Looks like most of the force went into the arm, if anything the mounts might be tweaked a little.

I'll second getting an estimate. Sadly it's probably a total. I hit a large rock with my first Nytro that dented and bent the subframe (even with the full Mountain Tech Skid Plate). Parts total came to $5k!!! It was totaled. Yes my insurance went up a little, but they never got the $7500 back they gave me.

If you are buying your own parts, you cannot beat the prices at 'Parts Shark'. Just spent 2 grand with them, from a similar bending party...

We use replaced nasty twisted arms on a 2011 apex, so bad to the spindle we had to cut the bolt off...spindle still good, bulkhead fine...slight tweak to lower a arm bolt...only point is, the sidewinder looks a lot tougher up front than an apex...put new arms and shock on, line the skis and let er rip..if nothing else apparent! He was doing 5mph and the ski dropped into a bridge hole and flipped the sled!!!

glad the rider was fine. i keep a spare set of a arms for my apex's and brothers venture before he sold it as it sucks waiting for parts to repair a sled.
