Well I was reading on Ulmers site and he seams to speak highly about joe gibbs oil. It would cost $90 to make the switch but its $40 to change with amsoil so I figure if its as good as he says, its worth it. Anyone have experience with this. I have been trying to decide on an oil for over a month now and Im about 200 miles from my 1000 mile mark and that is when I plan to change it so I need to decide... Its only $90 for the first oil change, $60 after that.

joe gibbs i'm sure is a great oil and amsoil is proven to be great too, but i really think it's overkill for oil, use mobil 1 5w-20 and the zddp that ROCKERDAN uses and spend the money on somemore mod's, if you run mobil 1 for the next 12,000+ mi. and the good oil filter like K&N, you'll be fine ;)!

They don't really say what weight the joe gibbs oil is.. anyone know??

what are you looking for 5w-20? i think the joe gibbs is the 5w-20, but you might want to shoot Allen (SRXSPEC) a message for sure

Joe Gibbs racing oil is 0-20, but you have to run a break in oil first. Allen sells it and knows alot about it. Get it from him. Adds a min of 3hp. I ran it in my Apex and will run it in my Nytro when I have to change the oil.

why is the joe gibbs so expensive, compared to like redline

Personally i would go with REDLINE and save some bucks.....then you can get the 0w20 for more HP(same as gibbs HP increase) and also have lots of ZDDP(ZINC/PHOS)

but wiht redline you are closer to the price of amsoil and then you can put a few bucks towards your yamcharger..lol

to each his own though with OIL.....this is just my opinion....Oil is so highly subjective and I only can say what i have been doing.

even the cheap 5w20 MOBILE 1 from walmart for 22 bucks(5 quarts!) with a 9 dollar bottle of ZDDP will yield that 3HP and save you a TON of money over gibbs and you will never see a motor problem due to oil.

IMO unless youre racing and Gibbs is your sponsor ,its way overkill.

that's what i thought, save some money with mobil 1 and zddp, add 3 h.p. and put some cash back in your pocket, well said Dan

Oil is oil. I build 2000HP alcohol burning motors for drag cars, 1000hp gas burning motors for different things, use a good quality oil and filter and it's all about the same. You will not see that 3hp riding, let alone feel any difference, you'll see it on a dyno, except your pocket book will be lighter. Joe Gibbs races for millions of dollars, he'll sell you anything if you want to pay for it. I run Kendall in all my things for the last 30 years. You just need a good quality oil so it doesn't break down and still be able to start at 20 below zero.

its all advertizing hype, oil is oil for the most part

I realize I wont see any engine failure due to oil unless I don't use any. lol.. Pretty much all gunna lubricate. I just wondered if the goe gibbs had something extra that made it worth it?? Why do you need to do the break in with the joe gibbs oil. Is it that important to get the entire remains of what was in your engine out?? If so, why?? Is the gibbs oil not compatable??

No, Im between redline with zddp and just sticking with what I know and trust... amsoil 0w40. I want the extra HP of redline but I know and trust amsoil so much... Im too indecisive about this... its all gunna protect... I think Im gunna take Dans advice and get the redline with the zddp
