Was finishing putting my rear skid back together yesterday after replacing a bunch of wear items, having shock rebuilt and installing the Barn of Parts rail stiffener. Went to install the control rod and when I was going to grease up the needle bearings they tumbled out all over the ground.
I tried all the Yamaha dealers in my area and of the 3 that are open today NONE have the bearings in stock. They've all quoted 3-5 days minimum before they will arrive. Whats is going on with these dealers? How can they not have common consumables in stock? These bearings are used on a TON of other Yamaha's besides sleds. Is it me or are they just carrying less and less inventory? I am willing to pay the cost premium to get them locally if they are in stock.
My question is, can I run the sled without the control rod or will it really impact dive-ability?
I've read about guys taking them out without too many problems. I suppose if you go crazy you could maybe bend an arm or possibly the rails may stab. Personally I would ride it until the parts come in, but that's just me... You might want to be a bit careful on the hole shots as you might end up falling off the back :>)
I HATE that! "There MY parts and I Need them NOW!"
Personally, I don't think I'd like it without the X-fer rod in there. I run my transfer on the minimal side as it is. It might ride awesome over the chatter bumps though?
