Anyone ever tried this?A guy with a quad did it and claims it works real well.Just used a small hose t-ed off the waterpump bleedhose and a adjustable valve.

Thought about it.... might be difficult to regulate the heat.

I have been saying this for a long time now saves electrical power and insures your hands will get hot enough.

The other issue is the proper drilling of holes in the handlebars... holes = weak spots. I'm not big on handlebars breaking.
Yes that would be a issue unless you went in from end and used handguards to route tubing.I would be comfortable with a small hole in center between clamps.Thinking then have a split bushing with a o-ring that just clamps on over the hole.Clamp would give it strength.

heated bars
some guys used to do this on L C moters in the 1975 -78 i think they used 1/4 inch copper or steel break line in side of the bars with a small valve to control the coolet flow.

Coolant through the bars? you've got to be joking. Do the RockerDan '06 bar mod and be done with it.
BTW, Yamaha should be ashamed of themselves for making us deal with cold hands.

Not at all.As long as a valve is used if something went wrong could just shut it off.May even help cool the motor a bit. Here is a few pics.Just a thrown together version but concept is viable. We are already running coolant to the IACV and TB and previously carbs. Why not?

You would have to have some type of loop system. You couldn't just drill in the middle of the bars and let it flow to the ends. Once the coolant reached the ends it would have no where to go and just stop,There would be no way for it to circulate.
Both ends of bars?Flow might not be needed since heat would travel by convection will find out though.

You don't need to weaken the bars at all. If you're going to run the coolant to the ends of the bars (where your hands are), then just go in one end and out the other. Forget about plugging in at the base of the bars.

They should be made so the coolant circ is one pipe over another with clearance to let the heated coolant heat the handle grips with the in and out hoses going in through the bottom. Nice, neat and efficient design that could deliever all the heat you ever need. For the trail user who are not concerned with weight a warming oven could be incorporated as well to keep food warm.

Sounds like the real deal ... warm hands ... warm food ... amazing!
May sound a little wacky, but quite doable.
Hmmm ... Think I'll order the 12" pizza sized warming oven.
