Copper exhaust donuts - are they worth it?

I tend to agree. Otherwise why not just come up with one big 4 into on pipe off the block that eliminates the need for gaskets and clamps completely?
 
while on this topic... is there a quick way to check for bad ones? I did my warrior at 4kish and I did it because there was a rattle. they werent toast at all. My 05 venture has 4k on it and I thought there was a way to cover the tailpipes and then it should stall or something. I totallly forgot this summer to check them and really dont want to dig it out of the trailer. any tips for a fairly accurate guess? thanks
 
If you cover the tail pipes (make sure you have gloves on or use rags) tightly the machine will stall if the donuts are good, if not there shot. Easy test to check without tearing them down to look.

If you think you hear a rattle you can actually see the donut clamps through the tunnel bulkhead. If they're loose enough to rattle with the engine running you normally can see them spin on the pipes also.
 
hey bottlerocket- how long should it take to stall them out? I held rags over the venture and it stalled in about 20 seconds. my warrior wouldnt stall and the donuts on that sled are about 7k miles, but have heard no rattle or fluffing sound.

My 2011 apex stalled out in less than 5 seconds. My 07 apex just kept idling like nothing, though I did not hear an exhaust leak, just a change in tone. Tore it down last night. Two clamps were sideways 90 degrees, and those two donuts were shot. It's really an easy job if you're mechanically inclined at all.
 
I hate to say it because I thought I was all ready to go, but I think I should tear em both down. I have done my warrior once before so your right slim that it isnt bad.... just when you think it's done.
 
I just tore mine down that I just picked up used with 4900 miles, three donuts were completely gone. The last was half there. Sled is a lot more quiet now compared to when I picked it up.

Luckily the clamps were turned on a couple but not loose enough to rattle. The y pipes had no wear which was hard to believe.

I'm also interested in hearing about the copper ones, for now I got the system down in replacing the donuts with the oem ones and stainless clamp bolts.
