I would recomend the locktite, as I have had the tips come loose on my sxr. Just put a small dab at the base of the threads on the top of the plug, screw on the cap, tighten and you are good to go. my 2c.

01S XR700, You don't need to add the loctite on the apex/attak because the coil goes over the spark plug and is bolted down, There is NO where for the tip to move. Just a thought.

It can turn in the cap, if the plug wire does not fit snug enough.Goofy said:01S XR700, You don't need to add the loctite on the apex/attak because the coil goes over the spark plug and is bolted down, There is NO where for the tip to move. Just a thought.

THE TIP CANNOT TURN IN THE CAP ON AN APEX!!!!! THE CAP IS BOLTED DOWN TO THE HEAD!!! JESUS KEEERIST IT TAKES AN ENGINEERING DEGREE, BODYBUILDER, AND SMALL PAIR OF ASIAN HANDS TO GET THE SPARK PLUG CAPS OFF THE APEX.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE STUPID TIPS. IT IS MECHANICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO UNSCREW ON AN APEX ENGINE. IT IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN AN SRX OR OTHER YAMAHA MODELS. ANYONE HERE WHO HAS CHANGED THE PLUGS ON AN APEX KNOWS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.
P.S. I HAVE THREE DYNO RUNS ON STOCK PLUGS AND FOUR RUNS ON THE CR10EK PLUGS. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED, I WILL POST SOME OF THE DATA SHEETS. IT LOOKS LIKE I AM GETTING FROM 1 - 3 HP IMPROVEMENT THROUGHOUT MOST OF THE RPM RANGE. TOP END RPM ABOVE 10,500 RPM WAS NO DIFFERENT. THE RUNS WERE ALL DONE ON THE SAME DAY.

Then by all means loctite them on and cause more resistance than what it was designed for.

the little bit I use would cause no more resistance than say carbon build up from the steel inside the cap rubbing against the softer aluminum...

I have never used loctite on plugs, neve heard of doing it, and can't imagine I'll ever get in the habit.

who knows maybe I'll loose the 2-3 h.p. the cr10eks make through resisitance from a little locktite on literally 1mm of thread...(just the "float" gap when a little loose between the nut and plug threads would probably cause more resistance)
my opinion is ...Locktite...locktite...locktite..
opinions are like a**holes..everyone has them..some good, some bad....if you like an idea use it ..if you dont...dont...I keep an open mind to everyones ideas...cause just cause I never heard or couldnt imagine something doesnt mean it's no good..
people thought I was crazy when I started riding simmons ski's (mountain skis') here in michigan over a decade ago...til they tried them

You da man
Have you had the pleasure of changing the plugs on an Apex yet?
Fun huh?

Yes - please post the data sheets. I run the cr10ek plugs and would be curious to see.
Thanks

truth be told...after I did it..I thought it was overkill...but I know it wont hurt..I'm the kinda guy who uses locktite when installing studs with nyloc nuts...belt and suspenders boys...never lost a stud or pulled one threw yet!

locking caps
I would not use locktight to lock the caps I take a pair of wire cutters and just score the threads at a 45 degree angle,, this will make the small cap go on like a lock washer.. This what I have done for years on other sleds.
