Cracked EXUP assembly.

I will get some pics. Both sleds are not abused and are maintained properly being looked over prior to every weekend ride. $2500.00 plus donuts, labor, and taxes! I would like to know how many riders have milage over 10000 miles and have no issues.

MIght be cheaper to trade it in, and let a Yamaha dealer deal with it. I,m sure they would find a way to push it thru warranty. LOL

OK so maybe there will be used ones for people who want a used one with unknown miles on it and could crack in the next ride.It is still poor design and not acceptable in my books. This is 2013 and we should not be having to pay $2500 to repair an exhaust in 8000 miles. I have been a loyal Yamaha rider for 20 years but I am slowly growing tired of issues like this. It is tough for me to say but after seeing this happen to a well maintained sled my next new sled may not be blue.

I don't blame you for being pissed dubla92, shouldn't happen that soon if ever. Lots of nice sleds out there that aren't blue . . . . .

Same thing happened with the 05 and up titainium headers. Bad choice of matterial has nothing to do with front mount exaugst being better a choice. The EXUP would still crack. Titainium is the problem. 1000 bucks for the 05 and up titainium pipes. Stainless pipes became the replacement at about 8,000 miles. Yamaha put out a replacement pipe in stainless as did aftermarket. Looks like they will have to do it again.

Get it welded, someone in your area must weld titanium.

For guys with no YES. Isn't this covered under the Emissions warranty like the Y pipes were/are? 3 years I believe.

I can remember a couple of years ago when people thought the Exup was the best thing ever....its a gimmic and always has been. Bike guys have been GAINING midrange power with aftermarket headers and a fuel map for over a decade.

Sounds to me the guys riding Yamaha with this exhaust will have to start taking the same approach as skidoo guys running the 800 twin. Great sled but don't own one unless you have warrantee.

Don't think so Tim, that 800 ski boom will leave you walking home!!!!!!! The Apex with a "this" exhaust will still run......

I have had exhaust issues but sled will still run justb e loud and loose fuel mileage. My freidns 800r etec 2012 has missing motor mount bolts needs a re-flash. His machine would die at 80mph then pick up violently yesterday. He has 4000miles on it....

Pics of the Damage. Both assemblies have cracks around the head pipes at the 4into1. Only one had the muffler outlet crack.
