Slow 2011 ApexSE

I'm running into the same problem with my 12 XTX. Ran real well for about the first 1000 miles, then just seemed to throw the brakes on. Has 2300 miles now. I have done plugs, adjusted the EXUP, airbox mod, added PC5, clutched, played with suspension and track tension. RPM is right on the money and sled seems to pull a good amount of clutch weight, but its just slow. I'm running out of ideas, been all over the map with the PC and clutching and just can't seem to find what it had. My Dad's bone stock 11 XTX with 1500 miles thumps it every time, all the way.

Would love to hear an easy solution for this one. I've been trying to stay out of the motor as it still feels like a "new" sled to me but I'm going to have to dig in soon. Girlfriend beat me a few weeks ago riding my 03 RX-1....

What weight oil are you all running? I remember Mike Knapp talking about switching to 0w-40 and it slowed down the sled. Sleds that he could beat before now could beat him. He switched back to 0w-30 and regained his speed and could beat all of them again.

Anyone here tried cleaning the clutches? Or looking for worn parts?

I just had my secondary bushings changed and clutches cleaned and EXUP adjusted...I only see 10,300 for top RPM but my buddy's XTX is clearly faster on top end.... If I could get my RPMs to 10,700 I think it could be a better result

What were the RPM's before you did the work? New secondary bushings alone will pull down the revs till they wear in some. Those XTX's are sneaky for sure but they do run different gearing and more tip weight than the 128's. Premium fuels are not all created equal also. Doing more than 1 change at a time can = big headaches!!!!!!!!

Put your hand on the clutches after a 3 or 4 hard runs if they r hot it dont matter what rpm u r pulling u r slipping the belt and loosing all the power .. mine ran like crap for a long time and was slow as hell no matter what i did untill i got the cluches to be cool with the right combo in the praimerry.. Now it runs like i added 20 hp and its fast ... ;)! :jump:

all the servicing was done before snow hit, so no clue...as for fuel we alway hit the same gas station...but I find on long pulls the RPM's hunt...so it goes 10,100, 10,300, 10,400, 10,000, 10,300...its not constant at the top

Ok i have figured it out. Well in my case anyways. Sled has been slow since day one and dealer could not find anything wrong. Dealer ensured me all along that all adjustments (EXUP) were correct. When I installed the mods and new Ripsaw track I noticed the Exup was cracked. I rode the sled 1 more weekend and the mods did not make any improvement. I attributed this to the leaking donuts and cracked exup. Dealer replaced exup assembly and donuts. Still slow. I tore into it and found the EXUP was indeed adjusted incorrectly. The pin is to be inserted at 12 oclock and the pulley notch is to line up. The notch was at 11 oclock. so the exup was never completely open. I guess I should have not took the dealers word?

Anyways I instantly seen a 10mph gain! So in my case this was the issue from day one.

Daranello I would double check the EXUP adj if the dealer did it as my sealer did not set it correctly. I assume they never reset the adjustment when installing the new EXUP. They simply slipped the cables off and reinstalled them without setting the cables and timing the valve. Got to love flat rate!

Nope, I did the adjustment myself...click pics to play videos

Have you put your sled in diag mode since youve had it adjusted? What numbers are you seeing?

When the adjustment was incorrect and I had issues in Diag mode when tripped the #'s were 40 counter clockwise and over 200 clockwise. Now after adjusting it is zero ccw and 180 cw.

These cracked pipes, can someone post a pic of the cracked area? Also I would like to see a step by step on how to adjust the PV system, I want to be sure myself that is being done right?
