Hello everyone in TY world! how are ya'll?. I had just started the Attak to let er warm up and thought I better do a little preride Inspection, well I found a few things wrong to say the least! :o| . one of the Rails is cracked, I found a few cracks every where else and the rubber strap the holds the suspension up when its off the ground (I don't know the proper term) the pipe it attaches to at the top is broken right off!, i don't know how that would even happen.
I am going to take the whole suspension out in the spring and inspect it as i have no shop to work in (guess i'm hanging up the helmet and snowsuit for this year #$%&* :o| ). I figure I will take it to a custom welder in the city when i get a chance. i bought it about 2 weeks ago but the rails were not cracked, but i'm not sure about the rest of the stuff that's broken, he said the cable that connects to the adjustable shock in the back was broken so it doesn't work, and it is pretty much right turned to soft, so she bottoms out allot, is this a problem?. also if i have to sink some money into fixing it, is it worth it or should i put the extra money and get a whole different set up?. any info would be appreciated! thanks :rocks:

Welcome to the club of broken rails and front suspension arms. The club has alot of members.

With the breaks in the front suspension arm or W-arm I think it would be best to get either a good used one and get it beefed up or a newer style from a 08-10 Apex which has more reinforcement than the 06-07.
With the crack in the rail I opted to bolt a piece of aluminum across the crack. You could have it welded but watch out for warping of the rail.

You may also want to check the exhaust donuts and header pipes. They may be do for replacement as well.

The guy will bought it off of, produced bills that said he replaced the donuts and one y-pipe and a few other things last year

Hey Steiner, do you have any idea why that rubber start would break like that? Or does it just come with the territory?

I'm assuming your talking about your limiter strap? The strap for the mono skid is very thick so it's odd it would be broke. Is it snapped or just missing like the bolts came off? I agree above though about getting it beefed up or doing what I did and tossed an m10 suspension in. The monoshock skid had some design flaws that tend to break.

yes thats what i'm talking about, i guess i didn't look my message over, :o| sorry bout that but the strap didn't brake just what its attached onto at the top

The piece of pipe laying on the track is from the top mount for the limiter strap.
The W-arm is the weak point of the Mono skid. As you can see in my pic my arm was broken in two.I bet the bolt holding the shock in place is keeping the arm together right now. This is why you are bottoming out and having other issues like cracks in the rails.

Best thing to do is get a replacement W-arm ( there are a few advertisers on here that can help you out), a new rear spring for your weight ( stock spring sucks on the Attak) get the shocks revalved, make a reinforcement plate to bridge the crack in the rail (mine was bolted in like this for over 1000 miles) and check all the bearings in the wheels, jack and drive shaft. Clean and grease them up and you are good to go.
This should cost you around $500 or so and give you a much improved ride and is cheaper than a new aftermarket skid

As far as the cable for the RA most people never adjust the RA. They set it to full hard or close to it and leave it there. Last season I left the cable in the tool box.

Halfbaked is no longer doing the "beefup". Another sponsor was going to take over but I have not seen anything on that yet. I broke my pivot arm at the end of last year and have tried to get a used one but there is none available. I am taking a chance and getting mine welded(again) but i figure next year I will have to order a new one from Port Yamaha $322.00. CND prices on the pivot arm are over $500 this year.

Darnit! it seems to me with a little bit of know-how it wouldn't be TOO hard to reenforce it yourself, which is looking like what will have to do. If you learn anything sore on the "beefed up" part keep me posted! Thanks

If you end up having to do rails and the arms you might be better off looking for either a used skid out of an 08 to use or look at an aftermarket skid. My attak monoskid was rewelded several times before it got replaced.
