Guys,

Check out your tool kit in the rear storage area. I went for three rides and decided to see what kind of tools came with my FX. The plastic tool pouch is all cracked and the tools are falling out. I have a spare belt in the holder which does a good job of holding the tool kit in place but it looks like the plastic pouch doesn't like the cold. Also lots of moisture in the box. Anyone else seeing this?

Yamaha has a pretty nice tool/belt bag for the Phazer. Its on the Yamaha accessories page. It goes in front under the airbox. It is a nice and out of the way place to keep the tools and belt. It is harder to get to, but you really shouldnt have to get to it anyways. Unless you have to work on your friends sled. This opens up the storage compartment for other things. Sno Bunje fits perfect!!

You must have the rattler, cause the full size bunje doesn't fit in mine.
If you have a full size bunje, could you take a picture of how you put it in there?

i have the front pouch installed in this photo, you cant even see it.i think its worth it,only $40 cnad so around $25 american

I put the first 90 miles on my base phazer a few weeks ago. At the end of my trip I opened up my storage behind the seat my my tools were all over the place. And it wasn't even cold out when riding. It was like 32º F and the pouch still cracked.

That is a cool idea. I don't like how the rear box looks. I think I shall pick up one of them bags.

first mod I did to my sled back in september was remove that pointless toolbox eyesore off the back and reinstal the bolts without the box. I bought the tank bag, looked like a tick was sitting on my sled, took it back. Got a back pac, never rode with one but some friends say once you do you'll never go without. Tossed the cast tools and put together a "toolroll" with some comon sizes and a light and pliers and crescent. Got extra gloves,mp3 player, bateries, ballcap, towrope, siphenhose, etc in the pack. I think it'll be good. Hope I don't need the tools. Going north Tuesday, let everybody see some pics next week.

I don't know how it is for you guys back east, but after 10 minutes of riding in the powder here in the mountains I'd ever be able to get at that tool bag that goes between the a-arms.

That area of my sled gets so packed with snow and ice, i'd have to wait for spring thaw to get my tools out if i put them down there.

I wear a backpack as well, got my spare belt, tools, gps, supllies to survive two nights in the cold, and some other goodies in there. That toolbox on the tunnel came off quicker than the windshield did...

I am riding in the deep powder as well. It does get snowy down there, but you shouldnt even need to use the tools or the belt. I just keep them on there for emergency. Thats why I bought a brand new sled; so I wouldnt have to work on it!

Cracked tool box after first ride. Just cheap plastic thats all.

Little thing but youd figure they would use something higher quality then that. I havnt done anything about it, but I just got a trunk bag today hmm....

hahaha, what do you expect, it's a plastic bag right? Mine exploded too, but I just let my tools float around in the storage area. It does get wet in there, don't store insurance and registration without double ziplocking it!!

The tools aren't that great in there anyway, I'm not even sure what each of them are for, or why there's the thinner ones with no measurement written on them. They should give you an extension to adjust the rear springs, cause the wrench sucks, you just jam it or your fingers when trying to turn the springs harder or softer. I'm making my own tool kit I guess. Also, where's the spanner wrench for the shock springs in the front track and the ski springs?? Not sure if you have to get those shocks off to even adjust those springs...looks tight in there...anyone try it?

my buddy down at highgear gave me a set of wrenches for the shock springs. we were able to adjust all the spring tensions while the shocks were on the sled. the jam nut that holds the adjusting nut though is really tight so make sure you have a pair of mechanics gloves on so you don't skin your hands.
