- 2014 Yamaha Viper LTX SE Hurricane 190hp Turbo.
I have been searching on here and online for which is the better ski on the viper but have only found reviews on just one or the other so i thought is was time to start a specific thread.
I have a 2014 viper ltx se with the stock skis with burgstorms 8" tripples and with his ski savers/ shims. i love the predictability and non dartyness of them but at the end of a long ride i hated how hard they were to steer.
So OK i have herd a lot of good reviews on here about the curves and i think if i were to get them i would get the curves xs with Mrsleds setup (6" slim jim duallys) but i also have herd the Mohawks are just as easy to steer as the curves but have better off trail which i would like (im about 60-40 trail/off)
i am really torn on which ski to buy i want a ski that has predictably handling, that has a easier steering effort and that does not dart.

I had the exact same question - which one? At the end of last season I planned to order a set of the Curves, but I started reading some reviews of the Mohawks. I am not an off trail type, but some of the "mountain" forums are talking about how good the Mohawk is off trail. At the same time, they are getting great reviews on the trail. You never know how much of the "hype" to believe, but I have read more than once that the Mohawks are the "perfect" ski for the cross over sleds. My Mohawks arrived last week, and I can't wait to get the chance to try them! Bergstrom has recommended 8" triple points due to my weight (240 with gear), but your comment about how hard the 8" triple points were to steer has me wondering if I shouldn't start with the 6"?

That's exactly why I'm undecided because I keep reading the reviews that say the Mohawks are the best of the best. If I get the Mohawks I read the standard slp 6" carbides work the best with the viper but the Bergstorm carbides might be better

$551 for a set of Mohawks, incl mounting hardware, loop and 6" carbide...!?? That's expensive! The Curve is $275 + mounting hardware but including 4" roundbar carbide.

About to pull the trigger on one of these so looking for more input. Looks like I could get the Mohawks for a little cheaper the the curves on country cat in white. Anyone rode both?

A limited review based upon limited conditions, but so far, the Mohawks are amazing! The ride was only 75 miles due to rough trails, water holes, and other early season trail hazards, but so far, I LOVE my Mohawks. I have 8" Bergstrom triple points, and it was like power steering. I shimmed my skis and used the Bergstrom ski-savers, and there was absolutely no darting!!!! I honestly could not believe how positive and confidence inspiring that ski felt on my Viper.
