I cut mine down to a 1.75. Works really well around the the flat praires. I bought a CE for the mountains. Slider wear is so so as long as the scratchers are down. I used a olfa knife with WD-40 sprayed on the blade. Make up a jig to specified height you want and cut away.

we cut one down to 1-1/2" to extend a war to 153". all we used was a carpet knife and a guide for the lug height.

Search youtube, there are a few vids showing how to cut a track. I just went with them, sharped a sawzall blade, made a guide, and went at it. Works pretty slick. Overall, took me about 2 hours, sharpening sawzall blade and making the guide included. I cut mine down to 1.5".
