Did I make a mistake purchasing a used 06 Apex ER

I am getting nervous reading all the info on this site that I bought the wrong sled. I am coming off a great running XCR 800 and I ride with all big sleds. A couple of F7's. Rev 800, Mach Z.A good running SRX. I don't want to get my doors blown in by my buddies. Especially after beating up on them for so long with my XCR. The Apex i bought is like new with almost no miles on it. I ordered 192 Stainless Top Dogs for it but other than that it is stock. So do you guys think I am going to go from first to last? I should have done a little research. I didn't know this was a 600 class sled.

My suggestion would be to stop reading the few knucklehead views that pop up on this great site. You have a fine sled that will stick with everyone you ride with. Sleds don't have doors, and your Apex may not be the fastest of the bunch, but I can guarantee it will be the best machine you've ever been on. The engine is intoxicating.

You bought the right sled!!!!!

Jon

you made the right choice, i have an 06' attak and it the best machine i've ever had by far, the only machine that ever gave me trouble on the ice was a well tuned machz, on the trail's the apex/attak are awesome, like any other machine you got to set it up to your style

get an Ulmer racing clutch kit stage 2 and you will be fine. Maxdlx

u def did not buy the wrong sled... and regardless if ur ever not satisfyed get a turbo? i garentee ur buddys with xc 700's n such.. will be targets for the lugs on ur track

They are only a 600 class sled on the grass...and when competing against Factory sponsored 600's at that. There's alot of info on the site as to why they are in that class on the grass, mostly due to the mods the "other guys" can do. The two-strokes can be tuned so close to the edge that they make alot of power but can't really be dependable beyond the 500ft drag strip. In the real world of lake racing/trail riding you've got a 1000cc class sled. You'll hang with new MachZ's and F1000's stock for stock...tuned...it depends on how good everyone's tuners are and basically the best wins.

Exactly. I don't know too many 600s that will radar in the high teens on the lake stock. Mine ran 120 with just some clutch work, no 600 would be in the same zipcode after a few hundred feet.

You made a GREAT choice.
I just updated the handlebars from my 06 to the improved 07's.. ( believed it was a warranty issue anyways ) and I put an 07 snow flap in the back.

Stock for stock from what i have seen and read is that the Apex is faster then a F7 and REV 800, the mach will slowly walk away on the lake.

Yeah, your sled will hang...It'll more than hang against most sleds. The truth is, once you ride it for the first time, your gonna think the motor is sick. These motors are so much fun and have so much power and throttle response it is almost unreal. ....you'll see.

I have a 06 Apex and you will love it.

I came off a HOT TO GO modded XC800 and LOVE THE POWER OF THE APEX. Whoever told you it is a 600 cc sled is jerking your chain. In drag racing they calculate 600 based on volume of power strokes not Horse power or performance.

You will never look back.

DO NOT think the compression braking you feel is 'Lead heavy' front end come of the throttle light and it feels no different than my 2 smokes.

Love it no worries
