Does anyone ride with a Ski Doo BV2S helmet? They look really slick. I don't know if this has been covered before. It was new to me. Anyone have any feedback? is the light system worth it? it seems like a lot of beans for a helmet, but it would be nice to see wider areas. I currently have a snoforce with a heated shield. I also like the flip down tinted lens. just wish it was totally modular. I was thinking about one of these witha heated shield or else a sno force 2 modular with a heated shield. any thoughts?

A buddy of mine has one. He loves it. He didn't even think about using his modular or open face after he used the bv2 the first time.

I have one and its the only doo thing I have left and you could make me get rid of it.
I dont use the rear light anymore, got tired of changing the batteries.
Its warm as can be and great vision .
The tinted shield is just an added bonus.

I have one. With the heated shield and the side flashlight. On cold days and nights there isn't a better helmet on the market as far as keeping your head warm. Nothing! I don't wear anything on my head or a neck warmer. My Yamaha leather coat comes up around the base of the helmet and there is a neo-preame(?) neck warmer on the helmet that does a great job. The side Flashlight is NOT a gimick, it works awesome. By the way I am still on the original batteries after 2 or 3 seasons. LED's are great. The back light is another story. It always seems like I leave it on even though I remember turning it off. I guess it's a cool idea but I don't like it. As far as the heated shield I don't have much input because I never use it the helmet has never fogged up on Me. But every year I double check my power lead on My sled just to make sure I have good power incase I need it. Crash protection is something I hope I don't ever have to test with it because I don't believe any Modular deseign is worth a crap JMO. @ the end of last season I went to a Moto-cross style helmet and I will stick with it most of the time now. I only wear the BV2s on really cold days. hope this helps you out. By the way the pads that go in the breath deflector are a pain the the @$$ but you just have to carry extra's with you.

Been using mine for 2 and a half seasons.

It is warm, quiet, comfortable, light, fog free and once you use the flip down sunshade, you will wonder how you ever got along without it.

I use the taillight at night, my group is big on the safety factor of helmet lights

IMO THE MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION WHEN BUYING A HELMET SHOULD BE FOR THE VERY REASON YOU PUT ONE ON THE FIRST PLACE. AND THAT'S NOT FOR BETTER NIGHT VISION OR WARMTH. I have seen too many people PERMANENTLY injured simply because they purchased a helmet based on the creature comforts or price rather than for the very reason they decided to wear it in the first place.

THE ONLY REASON I WEAR A HELMET IS TO PROTECT MY HEAD AND WHEN I BOUGHT MY HELMET I BOUGHT IT FOR THAT REASON ONLY!!
YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE TO DO IT RIGHT AND THERE ARE NO RE-DO's!!!

btw: I have absolutely no passion around this subject!!

Well........You can have the safest helmet around but if you can't see anything because it is fogged up and you eyelids are frozen shut then that super safe helmet is going to cause the accident. The BV2S is DOT approved or whatever rating it is and that is good enough for me. You will see one on my head this winter.

I think you may have other issues if your eyelids are freezing shut. There are too many solutions to fix the fogging shield problem that can safely be applied to a REAL helmet. TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) is something that can only be prevented, IT IS PERMANENT AND CANNOT BE CURED. That is if you survive when your pretty little helmet lies smashed in the snow and your friends and family stand around asking each other why you didn't invest in a better helmet.

SORRY

I have one have been using this helmet for 2 years excellent helmet, once you get it fitted rite to your head never fogs ever, i also got sick of changing the batteries in the rear of it.

I guess you are trying to shout that the BV2S is unsafe.

What do you base this on? Your opinion...or proof????

Tork, I believe Snow DO is saying the bv2 is not as safe as other helmets due to the fact they're not both DOT and SNELL approved.

yup i got one,you want it,biggest pos helmet i have ever owned, cant get enough air thru it,it is to air tight and warm, the little area it vents thru sucks,my old modular helmet vented way better, but i kept breaking the darn hoses that it vents thru, other than that it worked better, now i did install the heated shield on it late last winter, cost me 145 bucks and lasted one day,the way they have the wire adapted to the face shield when it closes kept rubbing aganist the little wire, until it broke off,now i am out 145 bucks and cant see when the temps drop, heck it even needs the heated shield when its 40 degrees above zero, just because it is so tight, just plain does not vent good, and i had all the new and improved up dates done, but if you ues it in the summer time on a bike its ok,just take the bottom piece off and it is fine.. :moon:

Man, with bad knowledge you guys are bum rapping the best helmet ever. It IS DOT approved!!!!!

Independant review Snowmobile TV

go to link on BV2S, text says it is DOT, and if you watch the video, that shows the DOT sticker
http://www.snowmobilertv.on.ca/bv2s.asp

And in 7,000 + miles never ever had trouble getting air through it.
Battery is easy to change and lasts a long time, because the light is LED. LEDs use very little juice

The BV2S may indeed be a very good helmet. It is only DOT approved because Snell, as I recall, will not test any helmet that does not have a chin bar. I have had thoughts of buying one myself, but as Snow D.O. mentioned, I want the best helmet for my needs.
