If not how did they fix it?
I know they claim the nytro has enginebrake reduction so how does it work and can you do it to an apex
Thanks

Some valid points Dano. BUT.. the rep at our demo ride explained the new system on the Nytro. A small air bleeder is incorporated into the throttle body. When the slides shut this allow a small amount of air in reducing engine braking. There is still some there, just not as dramatic as the other engines. Hope this helps you in some way.

Interesting. Thanks…Guess there is a way to do it without compromising in clutching.

That is one thing I love about my Apex, the braking feel. I almost think I would want to remove the "reduction feature" and have the full effect. It makes it awesome on the trails corner to corner.

I like the enginebraking too but here in sweden we have narrow twisty and BUMPY trails and in the tightest/bumpiest plases it is not a good thing. It gets alot of start/stop feeling of the ride...
But when the speed is alittle higher it is great!

Can you remove the Engine Braking Reduction System on the Nytro?

The engine breaking on the 07's and 08's are nothing like the earlier years. Yamaha has worked on that and isn't that bad. Just rode an 08 apex, fx nytro, rage and phazer fx. Engine break was really no issue. This season was my first four stroke. I did not like it before I got my own sled. I don't really feel it any more. You kinda adjust your riding style and use it as a benefit. You take more speed into the turn and let off then float through the corner.

Nate, that question was asked at the Muni demo. Answer was an emphatic NO!! It is built in and cannot be removed or altered. BUT, we all know that there are people here on TY that will see that as a gauntlet thrown LOL. Honestly, I didn't notice that much difference between the Nytro and my 1800 mile Attak. Seems that the Attak has slightly more breaking than the Nytro. I believe that this system does help handling as well. Chassis is much more settled with the reduced brake effect.

Guys, the engine braking is still there, it simply isn't as strong as the previous stock 4-strokes. I would compare it very closely to that of a clutched 4-stroke. It is not eliminated, just reduced!

Basically all it does is hold the sled in an elevated idle to reduce the effects.
