Actually the sled is set up for sno x racing. On the track you won't experience any of the twitchy riding everyone is complaining about. Truthfully, its not til I'm on a perfectly groomed trail that I feel any of the so called twitchy darting people are afraid of. But since I ride Tug Hill alot, you don't ever get a chance to ride perfectly smooth trails. It's only when you ride Tug Hill on saturday that you get a true feeling of the sled.

Finicky is being kind, I could never get it right and I have been riding and tuning Yamaha's for 12 years. Not an expert by any stretch but competent. I speak for the standard and not the RTX, seems a large portion of riders were able to get the RTX to work, the standard shocks just can not seem to be dialed in. I took it for a last ride a few days ago and it was all over the trail (hard and rutted conditions), again on a real rough section my kid blew by me on the Phazer I could do nothing to even stay close short of being bucked clean off ! My kid (7 year Moto-X racer) has no desire to ride the Nytro as he says it is a constant battle to hold a line in the rough and is unstable to a point you can not go fast in the rough with any degree of confidence.
Sounds like you should get some tuning advise from your 7 year old. I mean really, if he goes by and you can't keep up to him, I'm sorry but have to say it, you might be in over your head. Please buy the model of sled that best fits YOUR riding style. Not what looks cool and then bitch all winter because your 7 year old passed your a$$.

Im another with basically all stock parts. Its doesnt dart or twitch. Rode a stock RTX and it was totally different than my RTX. It does everything it supposed to. The sled needs to be ridden very fast and aggressive to perfom if not it beats you into submission. The RTX was probablly the wrong choice for alot of people

WOW I feel like I must point out that the guy did elude to the fact that he rode the standard (not RTX) I would think if a guy didn't want to get in over his head he'd go with a standard, and that his kid was a seven year moto-X racer (not 7 years old!)

Love the power, handling has been a on going challange. I feel the best change I made was going to Woody duel runners with the stock skis. (huge improvement) Yes ski alignment, flipped rubbers, shims, several shock adjustments, strap settings, traction block mods, & yes new ball joints all helped.

Benny your a fool, my kid is 15 yrs old and rides well and also has many years motor-cross under his belt. The Phazer will out perform the standard Nytro in the bumps hands down any day period. I ride an 06 Apex GT, 07 Phazer and 08 Nytro and I raced Moto-x in my younger years and currently race expert in the 600 SS class on a Yamaha R6 so bite me. I would bet I could paddle your #*$&@ on the trails all day long but to shoot my mouth off like that just slots me in the same category as you. Ask Swiss Sledder, NosPro, BlueBaller or anyone on the forum that has ridden with me and ask them if I am in over my head. Why not ride with someone before you pass judgement, sound like you can't handle the truth buddy.
Sorry Tom this one got me going, feel free to squash.

I gotta back my buddy up on this one. Reaper can DEFINATELY tear up the trail. Doesn't matter what sled he rides that day, it's always to the damn bar. I've ridden with his son too and I gotta admit, the kid can ride. Tim - don't get too worked up over benny, not worth it.
NOW, let's get back to bitching about the nytro!! lol you know - trying to figure out the dreaded "front end woes"

Thx Don, my posts may sound to the contrary but I really do like the Nytro for a lot of reasons, I just think the calibration is miles off. Revalve on the shocks and new front end geometry may make this the sled to have but as is has a long way to go.

IMO a ski change is a must... My RTX handles extremely well now that I've played with it, and with my slydog's. It truly is a different maching.

All I can say is behave.... and you can keep your Phazer.... in my eyes and there is no comparison... a well set up Phazer is nothing compared to a well set up Nytro..I have over 2500 miles on both back to back.

Again RTX maybe but I have no experience on that platform. Have you ridden a Standard FX for any amount of time ??

OK, guys! i rode fast and hard this past monday on my standard nytro. i messed with all the springs. i cranked up the center shock and cranked down the front springs and it is better. the steering is still a bit heavy and darts bad on some trails. these are groomed old forge ny trails. think becasue i am 210lbs and riding hard i might need heavier front springs to help with the roll going into a corner hot. i am hearing that CURVE XS skis are the best for the nytro. with shaper bars, the front end is lite and no darting. i said no darting. i dont want to spend 400 bones for skis but my cat buddie is walking my #*$&@ with his f8. i can ride my rev 600 faster.
has anyone else heard about these new curve xs skis and how good they are?????

Put sharpers on your stock ski's.(9 inchers) and at least 96 studs. Pull down both limiters 2 holes. Old Forge is usually pretty smooth so the lower of center of gravity the better. Make sure your on the gas smooth once you get in the corner, brake before it. Also you have to be aggreeive and either stand or be sitting as far forward as possible. IMO the problem isnt the skis its the carbides and lack of studs. If you are studded those stock carbides are worthless

i have no studs! carbides are stock. i will need new runners soon anyways so i will get the shapers, flip and shim the rubbers and see what that does if anything.
i love my nytro but just cant handle the darting and heavy steering!
