Anyone have any tricks for setting up the mono for a quick drag accross the lake with friends? Will setting the RA to full soft help with weight transfer? I have no snow to play with right now, so my test track (lake) is off limits. I'm thinking with the rod set to max transfer and RA set to full soft, this would provide some better holeshots. Has anyone tried trail riding with the transfer rod set to full transfer? Recent mag states the beauty of the mono is the ability to set max transfer and not sacrafice handling. I don't see how this is, since coming out of a corner and hammering it will drive the skis in the air.

I am thinking of pulling my limiter up 1-2 positions and droping the floats down to 40 lb for lake racing. I am not sure if the limiter thing will affect my transfer. I allready changed to a 1" track so I need the best hole shot.
Anyone?

Are you talking about shortening the strap? If so, I would think that would hurt your transfer.

Shortening the strap will keep the sled from transfering and keep the weight up front.

Setting the transfer to max is not necessarily the best solution, you want the sled to launch out, not up. I have found on the GT setting the shock to soft seems to be the best, and i have the transfer set about 3/8" up from stock. Shortening the limiter straps might work if you take a bunch of preload out of the shock, but if your not going to do that, leave it at stock. If we ever get some snow, i am going to try and take some preload out and see what that does.

C-clip in position 1 on shock, ra adjuster in soft, work with the transfer. If you're looking to bring the sled down out of the air some you can shorten the limiter strap. This will bring the sled down but I wouldn't tighten it more than 2" or it will increase the spring pressure and cause you to drive the skis into the ground. This is just some notes from grass drags for your guys reference.
Thanks for the tips. Racer & spec bring up the point that I thought would work...very soft settings, this must be cool with the GT being able to soften up the spring preload AND the RA adjuster. Hopefully the RTX will launch better with just the RA on full soft.
One other question, since we have no snow around here anymore, have any of you guys played with "launch" tactics? If everyone is spinning off the line including yourself do you find it better to try and feather the throttle a little ways then hammer it?
hey guys i have been trying to find the same thing,my c-clip is in #2 on shock,ra adjuster on soft and i am trying to stop my RTX from doing a backflip....im gonna try pulling my limiters up..dunno what else to do.....transfer rod is at standard

My C-clip is in the stiffest position, cam adjustment is at softest, Fox floats are at stock settings. Skis lift a little, but certainly not in the air. Transfer is at stock and so limiter straps.

I think the one inch track is the ticket for better handling as it will allow you to work the transfer for better front bite and better back slip,so you can somewhat slid it thru the turns somemore,as right now no matter what we do with the ripsaw it still wants to bite to hard and lift a ski and not slid you thru, this is what i want to do to my attak. And softening up the rear will transfer better for racing.Charged RTX said:I am thinking of pulling my limiter up 1-2 positions and droping the floats down to 40 lb for lake racing. my problem is not on the trails, when we stop to have some fun and race,my RTX wants to come over backwards and i dont mean the ski's come up a little, the sled points straight up(not always) but most of the time..when i hit the gas the suspension drops and the front end comes waaaaay up,i want it to jump out not up....pull the limiters up a little to get less track on the ground,i need more weight in the front.....help me out guys this is my first yamaha.....

where are you sitting on the sled? I have found when there is enough traction, that i was getting the best holeshots sitting up close to the gas tank. Even doing that, i had to work the throttle a couple times to keep it down. The old-school tactic of standing on the very back of the sled is not necessarily the best method with these newer skids.
I was sitting in the normal driving position and the skis really wouldn't come up. I only had the transfer set a little past middle towards max and my RA was set in the middle. Next time I will go full soft on RA and have transfer on max and sit towards back. Weighing in at 275lbs without gear, it's hard to with drag races, but I love it when I can shoot out of the hole better because of good weight transfer and hook up. I guess I'll have to start hiding behind the windshield too!

With my Attak, transfer set to max, skis hardly come off the snow.I wish I could transfer like you guys.Too much is much easier to adust then not enough on the Attaks.
