Well today i got to try my new blind bearing puller on the speedo bearing of my 04 warrior. The only success i had was removing the outer race while the inner race is still stuck on the bearing :o| .I came to the conclusion that i will have to remove the drive shaft in order to remove the inner race of that #$%&* bearing. What things should i look out for when removing the drive shaft? Can i remove the cover and lower gears and just tap the shaft out or is it alot more labour intense?

That's a weekend job you will need to pull off the chain case and rear skid to get the drivers out. Just thinking pull the bottom gear off and push the drivers to the other side the shaft will move some giving you room to work on it. And remove the skid to open the track up some.

Thanks guys,i may do what APEX06 said and slide it over some in order to get the puller on the inner bearing ring.I only got 8 days off work(flew in from the other side of the country) so it may wait to later :-o .

If your only doing the speedo gear, you get it out if you remove the tork head set screw that is on the inside of the tunnel, on the bearing race, turn your sled on its side, speedo side up, turn track till you see the set screw.

If you are going to pull your drive axal, you might as well do the upper and lower bearing in the chain case, 2 upper, 1 lower, 2 seals,

It may not be in the buget today, but if one went the others are not far behind. This is from experence. 14,000 on my 05 warrior. Our group changes them every other year if needed or not. We learned the hard way.

Yes the bearing is held in place on the speedo side by the small allen screws on the inside of the tunnel.

MUCH easier then removing the chain case. I can do a drive shaft swap in about 4 hours but that is if I don't lose any parts and for some dang reason I cannot keep the parts in the right order coming off and I always have to assemble, look at the manual, disassemble, reassemble, look at manaul, etc. I have done it enough times I should be better but its a lot of little parts that needs to be done correclty so take your time.

Finally got it of  .Had to cut a small slit in the race with a dremel tool. Then i hit the slit with a screw driver until it started rotating.Kept spray liquid wrench on it while giving it many turns. All of a sudden it came off with my fingers. It was rusted pretty bad.Going to clean the shaft and use never-seize.Still got to wait for the little plastic cage to go behind the bearing from my dealer($9.95CDN). :jump:
