yes, you use a block of wood on the driveshaft on the clutch side and gently tap with rubber mallet to drive the bearing out. There is a retainer clip on th inside that needs removed 1st. There is a bearing seal on the track side you don't want to damage.

Now I agree, because without doing this the shaft will barely go out.

Thank goodness - now I can sleep tonight

It is easier to pull the chain case, just takes an extra 5 mins !
Goes back togeather faster ! No fussing to align the bearing back in the chain case , and adding the snap ring !

thanks guys. ended up removing the gear case.
although i did notice that maybe there would be enough clearence if i just popped the bearing out. now that i've done it once i'm good to go.

Hahahaha what I thought and I have to agree, it's easier this way, with the chain case off, 3 more bolts

Now I thought we settled this!!!!!!! and you guys changed your minds. Now I will not sleep tonight.

If you remove your chain case completely you can leave the jackshaft bearing and the driveshaft bearing in the case,no need to remove these bearings, just remove the 3 bolts holding the case to the bulkhead and slide it off.now either shaft can be removed easy. Just did mine two three days ago, this was the first time on the 07 apexgt, but have removed all my other apex and attacks the same way.
ok you guys win!!!! I do think if I used the jaws of life between the tunnel sides I wouldn't have to remove any bearings

Yamadog, just be happy knowing that these guys likely don't have the tools to get the upper gear off and had to wrestle it with 3 foot long bars!!
Thank god someone appreciates my pain. I try soooooo hard to teach and all they want to do is mock me and fight me at every turn. Boo hoo
