DRIVE SHAFT

The description on page 1 sounds almost perfect. But the noise was coming from the left side. The chaincase is on the right side of the sled.

Seems that everyone that has has chain case problems have had the 300 mile service or has tightened the chain. Like i have said in other posts backing it out 1/4 turn after hand tight is too hard. It needs to backed out at least one full turn.

I will put money on it that that will be changed in the Yamaha manual next year!
I've said it before to , I set mine at 1.5 1500 miles on it now and not a problem with it . ;)!

If it whines when done it's too tight for sure

If it breaks it's to tight! So the next time you tighten it don't tighten it up so much! Finger tight and loosen it up at least one turn! Listen to ApexGT40 he is right! ;)!

I went by the book. 1/4 turn out. I am very careful and go to the light side of finger tight. No whine and 700mi since tightened. Going out or in between gears has nothing to do with chain tension. I believe it is a servo problem.

You don't see these post on other sites ( other arctic cat sites ) just on here , soooo I said it once and I'll say it again : yamaha did make this chain case arctic cat did so I would do what they say not yamaha :o| Just saying ;)!

Sure, but there have been many who went by the book and did 1/4 turn out, with no issues. I know cat has a track record of jumping into fixes with poor results, but why would they be releasing a detent as a fix if their specs didnt cause the issue?

Sure Cat made the case but almost all mechanicals in it are Yamaha. There is NO comparison. The case is just a box. What is in the box is what matters. Cripes even cat manual says 1/4 turn out. They themselves are saying it.

Will have to wait until tomorrow to find out what is going on. My service guy was not in and the team that was left couldn't tell me. Though they did say it is on the schedule to get fixed Monday. I may be able to make the SUPER BOWL run next weekend afterall.

Just returned from a great weekend in Northern WI with the XTX (<600 miles on it). Unfortunately the trip was supposed to last another two days. Last night crusing down the trail (50-60mph) and a horrible grinding noise started coming from the low left side of the nose. Cleared the ice, reset the belt, and still was grinding.

Limped it the last 1/2 mile to the trailer and just as we tried to pull it on to the trailer, BOOM, the grinding turned into a squeal and the sled will not move forward. Crazy thing is that you put it in reverse and it works fine.

Anyone else had this go out on them?

:o|

exact same thing happen to my xtx :o|

just dropped of at dealer tonight

Left side would indicate something going on with the brakes. I did notice that water can accumulate in the little well, at least with a skid plate it can't get out. I guess we will find out soon.
