Dumbest thing I've ever done!!

Agree that the R-TX should be quicker in the twisty stuff on paper. I also know that the LTX, with good setup, rides faster. I also believe I've heard that the LTX seems to be the faster platform on the big end.

The DX is probably the best setup for the majority of riders. The only advantage, IMO, for the SE/LE setups is if you take the time to learn how to tune them and you ride aggressively often. Even then I think the EVOL is necessary to really dial in rebound and bottoming to take the most advantage of the setup.
If you slow for g-outs or big bumps and jumps a DX is very plush nice ride.

I have an LTX DX Viper and RTX Sidewinder. You would be very hard pressed to see the difference in ride quality due to track length. The 129 feels like it turns better in the twisty trails--which is why I switched back from a 137.. Its not like the old 121 that you were chasing the #*$&@ all the time. I would recommend a deeper track for trail riding the 129 as that will give you the added traction on trail that may be lost vs. the 137. The storm 150 is a GREAT trail track IMHO.

I can see wanting to 'switchback', but good luck selling that 850poopoo. Word is out that they are spinning the crank bearings. Some people are eating their snowcheck deposit and leaving them at the dealers. First year poo....bad choice

First year has nothing to do with it. Poo is poo is poo. The poo pile is just a bit larger the first year.

Good point willowace, they all suck. Lol

isn't that the same issue the 800s had?

No. 15-19 were good motors. Earlier the port height was wrong or something like that. Pistons got destroyed and after that the rod would go through case. Before that the 900's had the PTO end of crank break off. They eventually fixed these things but for some owners it happened twice on same motor and Polaris didnt cover it second time. One of my buddies got out of the sport when his 800 Rush blew a second time in first year and Polaris left him high and dry. Parted out a 1 year old sled with a loan on it for $3000. And I lost a good riding buddy. Unforgivable. Yamaha may put up a fight but I do too and Yamaha has never left me high and dry. BIG reason I am afraid to switch and only buy other brands as toys I am willing to throw away.

I feel bad for you. Hopefully you learn to like it or get someone to take it off your hands. I will say I just came over from Polaris and have had several of them and have had zero issues with any. I’m also a 600 class guy. I figured someone is always going to have something faster on the lake but the 600 or in my new world the viper has always done me well and nobody is running away and hiding on the trail. I have only 97 miles on the viper but definitely am getting a feel for it and the love people have for them. Just got the C&a ski mounting kit and they sent the wrong carbides. I’m thinking that will help cuz maybe it’s the placebo effect but I didn’t feel overly confident in the front end. As far as plush ride I’m really enjoying it. Sorry to get off topic a bit

Congratulations on your Viper. If you are a 600 class guy, you are going to love it, especially after you do something about the stock Tuners. I had a Polaris triple and then several of the 600 twin sleds over the years before switching to the Yamaha 4-stroke. It was the 1049cc engine in the Vector that sold me on Yamahas. The first time I rode a Viper, I knew it was the best sled I had ever ridden. You read a lot of complaints about the Viper lacking top end speed, but the reality is that it is faster than any Polaris 600 I ever had. I hope the C&A's work out for you on the Viper. If they don't, there are lots of other options that will make your sled "rail".

I am lucky in that I have a good relationship with a dealer who has significant pull with Polaris. I don't worry about issues being taken care of. How the sled rides on the other hand is hard to change.

When I ordered it the deal was that if I couldn't get it to ride/perform like I wanted he would get me out if it. I did promise to give it an honest effort so they are tweaking a few suspension things today. We will see how that goes.

Sell my Viper and buy a Poo 850. Yeah, the 850 is really good at flinging poo for about 10 miles then it is better at reminding me why I loved the Viper. What in the hell was I thinking?
What about all the hype that poo 850 is the best sled last year ,this year and last year

As I said I have minimal seat time basically coming out of Hancock in the UP to Gogebic. The dealer was prepping me that it doesn’t go over 80. And for the majority of the ride on big open straight away sit hit 78 I was verying the throttle probably don’t need to on a four stroke but then again I’m a virgin and used to 2 stroke. I was with my buddy on his 850 doo. When we got further down the trail it gained a couple mph. We stopped a time or two enough to cool down completely. Then we left dinner and he was next to me my speedo said 90 or 91. We got back he said we were sitting at 94 again that is Speedo but he does have studs and optimal conditions so I don’t know but I’m really happy with it. If I wanted to hit a C-note plus they had plenty of sidewinders. I really like the TQ that I have experienced so far. Corner to corner I felt a solid bit of pull. Again thanks and I can’t wait to see how the skis perform and hopefully I will get some studs soon and learn from everybody on here. On a side note we were with the guy last year who set all the mileage records on his vector. Great guy plus he wasnt trying but he definitely sold the Yamaha reliability and motor

I think you can rely on 80 from a Viper under almost all conditions, and in good conditions after it is broken in, you should reliably see mid 90's. Your Viper speedo is pretty close to dead on with a GPS at those speeds; I suspect that your friend's speedo is the one that is off.
