so im in the market for a phazer to replace my arctic crap.(backup sled)
I ride alot of suppose to be groomed but its not very often trails.
im currently looking at 2 used sleds.
first is a 07 gt with 3k miles and seems stock good shape. picked.
second is a 08 rtx with 3032 miles and seems stock, floats and picks.$100 more then the gt.
dont know about updates on either one.
which would u recomend? i like the high windshield and knee deflectors of the gt but could also see my self wanting the floats.

I would go with the 08rtx.There is many updates to the 2008.You can put a wishield and deflectors on the 2008.

I would go for the RTX, many of the updates are already done on the 08 vs. 07.
The miles are the same, RTX has more updates done and I like the floats up front.

I have an 07 GT and its great. That said, I would get the 08 RTX in a heartbeat.

question....is there gearing differences between a gt and a fx?
i thought the only sleds geared different where the mtx was geared lower.
also has anyone seen a list of the updates versus the year?

08 had most of the updates besides the closed tunnel I think, 2009 had the rear of the tunnel closed and a slightly beefier center skid arm. 2010 has every update and the beefiest front arm. 08+ is considered good.
Gearing
GT = 20 tooth upper gear
FX/RTX/standard = 18 tooth gear
MTX = 17 tooth gear + 8 tooth track drivers (the rest are 9 tooth)
18 tooth is all a stock phazer will pull unless you have absolute perfect conditions as an 18 tooth = ~81-82 mph @ 11300rpm with full clutch shiftout at which point the speedo will be showing ~90mph
The MTX has 32% lower gearing than the GT, which equates to it feeling like a 105hp sled up to its rev limited ~72mph compared to the GT.
Gears are easy to change though, less than a 1 hour job, and pretty cheap. If you stay mostly under 70mph most guys drop to a 17 tooth upper gear.
