Hey everyone, hope you all had happy holidays.... new parts under the tree? New sleds? Well I just wanted to put a post on to report that I am trying the combo of a glasspack exhaust (under the tunnel) and ECP kit from Freddie, and they work wonderfully together! I have the 14 inch glasspack welded into the Y like many others have done on this forum, and also have the ECP kit with silver springs, and 165 jets. Took it out for the first time yesterday on our christmas eve ride... and well it kinda scared me! I couldn't quit smiling all day. Definately way more power!! I let my buddies ride it and they all came back with the same expression... WOW! The sled runs right up to 10500 no prob, pullin hard all the way. There is the slightly rough idle that others have reported, but definately very minor and nothin to worry about.... And I can't emphasize enough, make sure to sync the carbs... after installing the kit I couldn't help but immediately take it for a quick run, and it was pretty rough compared to after syncing. Thanks again Freddie for great service and a great kit. I realized that there are very few post reporting on the success of the glasspack/ECP combo and felt that we all needed at least one. Talk to Freddie and let him set you straight.... the power with the sound of the glasspack is a beautiful thing! Merry Christmas everyone!

This is the post I have been waiting for!

I was NOT going to give up my ECP filters for a glasspack but frankly I didn't want to take the time to try to make it work with my ECPs.

Now that you have reported that it works I may go that route. I would however, like a Yoshimira pipe under mine instead.

Where are you fuel screws set and what elevation do you typically ride?

Fuel screws are 2 turns out... and I am riding at around 2000-4000ft. Later as more snow falls we will be gettin up higher and I'll report on the performance. Also if you guys know anyone with a parted sled, that has a jack shaft let me know.... I had the bearing on the secondary side go last night and am proly gonna need a new shaft. Anyhow hope you guys had a great Christmas...... drop me a line if you have any more questions.

i tryed mine today

160 main jet and ECP and Hinlde single pipe. Way too lean i think, the motor wouldnt rev past 8000 rpm.

i dont have 170, i have 175, i will try them tomorrow

Definately 165-170, and make sure they are Genuine Mikuni jets... there are yamaha mikuni jets, but I think the numbers are different. Ask Freddie about the proper numbers or about gettin the right ones. Good luck with it. Also I pulled the shaft out today and its in great shape.... dont need one!

finally, 170 ran great, need to try it at elevation, at Sea level, just a little bit to lean.

That's good to hear Tundra. Please let us know how the 170's work at elevation.

So, Is there still a huge power difference?

How is the sound level?

How do you think a single Yoshirma would work compared to the glass pack?

Great report

:o| update

Weird, seem to rich at take off, and too lean when i let off the throttle quickly and snap it back to full throttle.

Got a lot hesitation when i take off on WOT. Power level is sure higher, my clutching seem off with this setup. But i need to take care of burble and hesitation and Backfiring .

You are not going to gain more then 2-4 hp on top, it is the midrange were you will pick up 10-15 hp with filters.

carb has been synchronized before. Im trying to understand. If its burble when i go WOT and clean up a bit , its because i have too much gaz entering ? but if i let off the throttle quickly and press it back and the sled backfire a bit, its because its too lean ?

Can i go 165 and adjust needle to get more fuel when i'm running at speed ?

Today i tested with the pipe , the ECP kit and 170 main jet. Still burble or something like that, but sled run 11 100 rpm without droping a hair. And With the stock exhaust, and the ECP .With the same clutching minus exhaust i revved nothing more than 10100 RPM. Now i need to drop the RPM, acceleration wasnt that strong.

mikuni Jet ?

its Kehin Jet that i have. 170 in size. Small round Jet. Its a pain in the LaLaLa to find Big size jet here. I must order them. You gained no RPM Coldwater ?. I gained 1100 RPM on top end with Hindle + ECP vs Stock exhaust and ECP. The idle is weird, but who care. I will make my old 160 drilled to 172.5 just for the try. And i will try the 165 when i will receive it , except if 172.5 cure the hesitation. On thing the Throttle response is awesome.
