ECP and Glasspack can live together under one hood!!!

mikuni Jet ?

its Kehin Jet that i have. 170 in size. Small round Jet. Its a pain in the LaLaLa to find Big size jet here. I must order them. You gained no RPM Coldwater ?. I gained 1100 RPM on top end with Hindle + ECP vs Stock exhaust and ECP. The idle is weird, but who care. I will make my old 160 drilled to 172.5 just for the try. And i will try the 165 when i will receive it , except if 172.5 cure the hesitation. On thing the Throttle response is awesome.

You MUST use Genuine Mikuni Main Jets! I cannot explain to you how important this is! Keihin flows there jets at a different rate and pressure.

jet,s

i use numbered drill bit,s on the job lot,s. and i also use them to drill jet,s. and this is what i have come up with there are huge differ,s in the drill bit size,s when it come,s to jetting i can get 165,s then the very next bit took me up to a 180. so the drill bit,s just are not that fine. i found this out by useing a mikni pocket tuner and mukni hex jet,s as a guide. and once i recved my 170,172,175 and 177 jet,s i found this to be true. also if you buy yamaha jet,s they have split the sizes with finer icrement,s as well. like 167.5. 171.8 and other,s for those that want even closer jetting. ;)!

How i can identify a kehin vs a Mikuni ?

Today i tested with prefilter on, and we changed de Primary Clutch spring to make the motor load itself, since i got 1000 more RPM. With the RPM almost at the sweet spot, its scary Fast. The throttle response with ECP and Single pipe is incredible. Today i got only some burble when i let the sled idle too long, the idle isnt ok. And backfire when letting the throttle off and pressing back quickly. I will look at the Mikuni vs Kehin thing. But its in the good way, and one thing for sure, the sled has never been stong like this before.

;)!

So tundra, I forgot to mention that I also re-geared with a 21 on top. This accounts for the lower rpm's.... Also, I'd just go get some genuine mikuni jets, they are cheap to get and nothin to have a headache over. I mentioned earlier that I put on a R&M Stealth hood, and if you have the means to try these out I would really recommend one. I worried about the troubles of icing after switchin over to the filters.... but with pre-filters and the mesh hood I have nothing but smiles. My engine gets all the air it needs, and yesterday I spent lots of time punchin through deep snow and never had a problem.

Go Tundra!

Hopefully, you'll get the jetting figured out and can share with the rest of us how many main jet sizes you ended up going up, where you end up on the needle and fuel screws.

I have to wonder how much this varies going from and automotive glasspack to a super bike pipe like a Yoshimira, Supertrapp, Vance and Hines, etc.

I'd LOVE to see someone put a stock RX-1 with ECP filters vs ECP filters with a single pipe on his dyno to see the power difference and to help figure out where the jetting pitfalls are throughout the powerband.

Personally, I'd much prefer to add a superbike pipe to my sled. With all the pain I have endured so far to save an ounce here and an ounce there I hate like heck to add a STEEL glasspack.

Maybe there's one type of single pipe that works better than others with Freddie's kit? Perhaps there's another carb needle that needs to be used to augment fuel delivery (dynojet or 02 or 03 R-1 needles) throughout the midrange.

Wouldn't it be cool if a complete package could be developed? ECP filters, overfilters, velocity rings, carb slide springs, one specific single pipe, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Freddie, is there one type of lightweight superbike pipe you have found to work better than others in your R-1 motorcycle testing?

Do any of the R-1 after market pipes come with replacement needles that more cloesly fit the fuel delivery needs of their aftermarket pipe?

So many questions.................

Where are you feeling the huge surge in power on your sled?

Great work Tundra. Keep us up to date on the prgress.

The low end power and the midrange is impressive. Honestly, i was expecting to loose some low end and mid range to gain on top end. But, you need to know that clutch engage at 3000 RPM and am not giving an inch on holeshot to the summit. Last spring ive got better holeshot, but clutch were engaging at 5000 RPM.

I will find a better primary spring to keep the RPM up on long run. Even if i was behind on some start, i was passing the summit at 500 feets, and he gained on me on top end to finished first when my rpm start to drop under 10 000rpm.

I will also try the GENUINE MIKUNI JET ;)! i still got some Backfire on midrange (too lean ?)(Needle ?)

I have a better midrange now than the summit. Only need to improve it

But, i would like to know answer for all question Frostbite asked !

And to finished. Supertuner ECP Kit is ;)!

i would like to put my sled on a Dyno. But no one close to me enough.

Am sure that i would have better result with my jetting adjusted on a Dyno. Am using Butt Dyno, and its more difficult now , the sound give me false impression :-o :ORC

The clutching factor is really important too. I do not know if the powerband moved up or down. From my feeling its move up. With only ECP my sled pulled way better at 10 000 RPM than higher. Now, its seem to pull better from 10400 to 10700. But its only pure speculation. Its a guessing job. It would be easier if i were better with carburation and working with carb.

The Akropovic and Ti Force exhaust systems make the most power. I am waiting for some quotes to come back to build my own properly built FULL EXHAUST SYSTEMS.

I will keep everyone posted as this develops. Lock, stock and barrel and a whole package will develop more power.

Freddie, that's great to hear!

Do you know, would it be possible to mount these pipes under the tunnel or will they need to be mounted out the back like the Accel system?

I would be tickled as heck to have a ECP pipe on my sled!

Keep up the GREAT work Freddie!

Man, that is absolutly awesome. I have all 4 mikuni Jets at 170, but its a little bit too rich when i floor it, and too lean on middle. I will probably put my sled on a dyno in the next couple of week.

I have figured the clutching yet, but im at a spring close. Sound is amazing, and the midrange is to die for, seriously. Cant be more happy. Only thing is the frozing of the Carb with the ECP, but, i will keep you updated, im working on something

Thanks for the update Tundra.

Now exactly what size glasspack do you recommend?

Have you raised your needles a notch to feed the fire a bit better in the midrange?

Frosty

not yet for the needles, but i will try it because i got some backfire when i let off and press it back quickly.

Lenght, no more than 18 inch, it will stick out too far.

i will run it more in the next couple of week, i will have more feedback to told you.
