Hey guys, just a general question. I am wanting to hookup a electric shield wire on a sled (sons Indy 550) that has electric start. Can I wire directly to the battery or will that continue to draw power from the battery even if nothing is plugged in?? Thought I would throw up on this site and hope it is alright just getting no where on any other sites and this one has always been great with help on my viper.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
You can go direct to battery and if nothing is plugged in it won't drain the battery. Pay attention to the polarity of the wiring. You want the outer part of RCA to be neg so it doesn't short out if it touches metal on sled. Be sure to use a fuse.

To be honest I've never wired in a fuse to my heated shield wires. My Vipers is wired to the battery with no fuse. Yes it would be wiser to put a fuse inline with the positive wire....guess I'll just roll the dice. lol

There is also a quick connect per wired connection near the oil tank you can use.
My visors always came with a fused cord. Better safe than sorry.

thanks guys for the help. I will wire a fuse into the existing wire if can't find one with a fuse already. Appreciated as always.
I bought Rockmeisters power distribution kit. It allows two visors and two usb ports. Never know when you need it.
I have one too. Looking forward to using it to power my GPS this year.
