Using a new GMAX 44S modular helemt this year. So far, real happy in -25C temps. I have an electric shield but have not had to use it ---no fogging issues with the electric visor unplugged. Very comfortable and the venting is real nice for the warm days. I ride 06 Attak with medieum height windscreeen. Royal distributing in Canada sells these helmets-- $180 without electric shield and I think around $249 with the electric shield and wire harness. I wired directly to my battery booster cables--nice and neat ----just don't forget and leave it plugged is --WIRED DIRECT TO BATTERY THIS WAY.

Is your helmet a modular? I bought a 44X Gmax, which is modular, and find that I get quite a bit of wind entering the helmet and am not sure where it is coming in from. I even put electrical tape over the bottom and sides of the visor and still cold air seeps in. It's starting to tick me off and am considering returning it for an HJC.
I really want to like this helmet, as I do like the breath deflector (which reduces the need to use my electric shield) that flips up with the jaw portion, but the vents also keep accidentally opening on me as well.
Do you have any of these problems with yours?

I am on my 3rd season with a Gmax modular and I love the helmet. But...as Grimm mentioned...I as well will get a bit of unwanted wind entering the helmet. I have an X-large and my wife has a large. My brother has ordered a new Gmax GM44S Cobra but it is on back-order here in the states. Therefore...since we are planning a trip to Canada and he wants to borrow my wifes helmet. So...I tried on my wifes helmet(large) and it fits so much more snug(feals perfect) than my X-large does. I think the XL helmet might be to big for me. Grimm...what I am getting at here is i wonder if I/you may have a helmet that is to "big"...just a thought?
Flyboy...do you have a website or a phone # for royal distributing?

My helmet is a large and fits very snug, it is modular. I usually wear a thin balaclava under the helmet or at least something up around my chin and mouth area--if not I do find it a bit drafty on my chin. Warm weather not a problem but in extreme cold--chin and mouth protection is a must. My main concern has always been trying to find a helmet that does not fog. This helemt so far has been fog free. I had no luck at all with HJC--they were useless for me unless you had the electric visor.
All in all I like this helmet. Catalogue shows the model as the GMAX 44X, however if I am not mistaken ( I don't have it here--it's at the cottage) I think it says 44S on the helmet. Hope this helps-- also hope this post doesn't appear twice---everything I posted yesterday showed up twice---I hate computers!! :exc:

Yes, on the back of my helmet, it says 44S as well.
I'm not having a problem with cold air on my chin, more like my cheeks and eyes. The helmet fits snug, especially with my balaclava, so I don't think that size is the issue here.
I'm gonna call Royal and see if I can swap for a different helmet.

Grimm,
What color is your helmet and what size is it? Like I mentioned before...my brother ordered one from a local dealer and they keep on telling him its "on backorder". If yours is the red helmet...my brother would probably be interested. Heck...at this point he might not be picky about the color...he just needs a new helmet bad.

It's a large flat black helmet with both electrical and double lens shields.
Called Royal last night and they'll get back to me.

Update on my helmet woes...Royal ended up sending the helmet to their distributor for inspection, and after a couple of months, I was contacted and informed that my money was being refunded.
I'm pleased with the result, and now, I might do a new search for a modular again.
