Eliminating ice build up in tunnel

Yes the stuff they make pots and pans with.Being home town of the now defunct Mirro Corp. you can guess where the Teflon Sheet came from!A cookie sheet isnt expensive as a alternative and should be darn near right width.

I like the sound if running coolant through the tunnel protectors. Maybe T into the rear crossover with a 3/8 rubber line and run it through to the front, under the tank and back to the rear on the other side. Very little weight penalty. It won't transfer heat like copper but as long as the protector stays 60-70 degress it would work great!

Has anyone tried a teflon wax on the skid or tunnel? I couldn't believe how much ice I had on my skid after 500 miles over 3-4 days. it took 20 minutes to melt it off with a hose and water.

Well it's been mild here since yesterday and everything melted off mine so I picked up a spray can of "Rust Check Coat and Protect" and applied a good coat to the tunnel protectors and sides of the tunnel where the ice builds up. I will report back with results after the weekend. BTW the spray can was only $9.99 and it will easily give you 6 or 8 applications.

Well after 2 rides I have no ice, my tunnel protectors are as clean as the day they were in the shed when everything had melted off. I think I have it cured! I will keep this post updated.
