I'm waiting for repair manual to show up, was wondering how much engine oil I will need for an oil change?

Anybody........... Be nice to know how much oil to go buy, maybe if I need gaskets or o rings, hello....... Anybody?

Not the listed 4.1 us gt. specified....I just changed mine and its best to fill with 3 qt., run for 10-15 sec. and check sight window! should come out to 3.5qt.!

Thank you! I ended up draining mine after I checked the level to make sure it was full. Then I measured what came out. Ended up being 3 quarts and 10 oz. I spilled about 6 oz on the floor so 3.5 quarts sounds about right. Can't believe there is no capacities in the owners manual! Hope the repair manual has capacities in it.

Nor recommended viscosity!!??

Do you know chain case capacity?
Need that as well! I picked up some things from the dealer but they did not give me enough oil for engine. I have 2 viper rtx DX's and they gave me 6 quarts of oil. Going to need one more quart for sure

Sheet of paper 8x10, was inserted in dealer set-up instruction manual indicating all the specs/fill capacities and it stated 12 oz., however I'll bet its less. Just fill to 1/2 sight window! Beats a dip stick! Also If ya measure the drained oil it will be exact.

Did not get that sheet! Figures, my dealer is worthless

The owner's manual does say that the sled runs semi-synthetic 0w30. I was just my dealer getting a filter to do my first oil change, and the service manager told me that the 2015 Vipers were all shipped with 0w40 synthetic. He was told this at Yamaha school. I don't get it, I thought you weren't supposed to use synthetic for break in??

Not sure on break in but my dealer just told me to use 0W 40 synthetic on my oil change too.

He also said to replace o-ring seal on tank drain and crush washer on engine drain. The arctic cat oil change kit includes both and owners manual says to replace them too.

I notice as my sled warms up the oil level in the sight glass rises above the top. After I reach operating temp, the oil sight glass is still full of oil. Seems it takes too long to resume normal inspection level.

Kinda seems weird to check the level after it's warmed up. If the level was too low I would not want to run the engine first??
