Engine Overheating Problems - Any Known Resolutions?

Read the mototune break in, it is great but no where does it say head for 2 feet of fresh soft powder and rev the piss out it! Short controlled bursts of full throttle Varied rpms. Accell and Decell, not just 10000 rpm till it stops flinching.

Don't sustain high revs and high load, keep trip shorter or have frequent stops, just use some common sense. If none is available see your local dealer, they aren't using theirs.

My dealer, and manuals says best break in is under load! Running under light load will not properly seat the rings resulting in the sled burning oil.
Load is necessary in a new engine. :drink:

This Motoman following reminds me alot of the Jim Jone's "KoolAid" cult back in the late seventies......well sort of. One guy posts his stuff as being the 'end all and be all' and even though nobody knows him from Adam, they all follow it as the gospel. Heck, he may be right on and correct as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.

However, I find it hard to believe that most on this site are die hard Yamaha sled owners; think the new four strokes are the cat's meow, yet totally disregard a proven, experienced, and reliable way that's been tested by those far more advanced in their testing than the average gurus here. Most everything on these sled is just down right awesome, except the spew written in the owner's manual, right?

If I'm ever in the market for a used sled from these classifieds, I'll be sure to go through the archives and search for those that broke their sleds in using the engine anti-christs' method. I do believe I'll pass.

Jon
