Sweet Mercy, I got a.divorce years ago to get away from someone that bitches about anything, this is AMERICA if you are so PISSED at Yamaha then make a lot of people happy and buy a Cat,Doo, or Polaris, and then you can make their websites unbearable to use, I can only imagine what your life's are like with nothing good to say about anything, PLEASE get a life.

actualy they are in the popularity business thats how it works. build what the customer wants and they will buy it. Maybe thats why yamaha has ben last in sales. Viper is a step in the right direction. To buy anything based only by who made it is just wrong. If yamaha could build sleds with there quality standards and gread ride and handeling they could make a run an no 1. Hope they get there someday. It's the same thing every year. Everyone wants a sled built specifically for them. If you haven't figured it out by now, Yamaha marches to the beat of it's own drum. It's part of the reason they have built such high quality products for as many years as they have. With being a fan of Yamaha, you must know they are not in the popularity business, they are in the quality business. Pretty simple. If you don't like their offerings, ride something else. Anyone consider the XP chassis from Doo is going on it's 9th year? Funny, huh?

No In fact the most hp in there 4 smoke class is nytro base 135 hp,so they will chime in and say there 800 e-tech is 155 ok so it is,like the new poo is 160 but do they both outrun the apex xtx in bottom thru top,not all of them do,in fact barely any of them do,and if it is an 800 sled that does, its this years 2015 doo e-tech that does, and not by much,so so much for the light weight doo,ya I bought into the doo hype back in 08 the darn thing was to light for me,at top speed going acrossed a lake,if the wind came up and cross wind hit you,it would litteraly move you about at foot at 100 plus, now that just is not what I wanted at that speed, and it also went thru the corners on one ski, something my xtx does not do now, compared to my last ape shortie, some times it would just stand up on one side when it felt like it.I noticed.. it's alot of part time yamaha owners who are barking the most....lol.....I wonder if they are over at Doo Talk barking too??....as I don't see a NEW 160 HP, 4 stroke from ski-doo.......lol

Yamaha offers the best of Arctic Cat and the best of Yamaha under 1 brand name. The best chassis and suspensions from Cat and the best from Yam. You all need to be riding an 8 yr old carbed sled like I do. Then EVERYTHING they offer would seem extremely desirable and would represent a major upgrade. I just have to wait 15-20 more years before I can buy a new one again, when the kids grown and all. First World Problems for sure! Someday we may all look back and say "Those were really the best of Times, when I was younger and healthier, and all I had to worry about was Yamaha's lineup."

It feels like to me that coming out with new models and must haves really brings down a brand name. Are we talking about 15 thousand dollar sleds or woman's shoes here. If I followed a brand that "reinvented the industry" every season then I would be afraid to spend the money knowing that next year my machine would be old news and frowned upon because it doesn't have the new and improved twisty knob. I like to see improvements on the machines that you have. Look at the issues, listen to feedback and fix it!
Simple,
Powder coat all tunnels with rear exit exhaust - iceing problems gone.
Sort out the mapping issues and top end of the viper and they will be the best selling sled on snow today!
Never ever have another "parts agreement" with another brand. Bite the bullet and purchase the rights to the machine and build it yourself to the quality we want!!
I could go on but this is not about bashing yamaha, more so wanting them to be the best!

Parts agreements have been used for generations from manufacturers in every form if industry.
Your idea of biting the bullet and buying the rights to a machine and building themselves is simply a recipe for doubling the price of sleds.
Look at the companies that tried to do what your talking about? (Blade, Redline, etc)
Cool stuff, but too many expenses and too high of a sticker price and they're history.
It's a sled, not a pacemaker. You're not going to get high end perfection from a small segment machine, period.
There's no sense in anyone complaining about it. But the one that's closest to making you happy, and follow the rest of us modification junkies here and make it your own!
I personally wouldn't want the "perfect sled". I love to modify stuff to make it better, understand it to its fullest and make it mine.

I agree that the current lineup actually has many options/upgrades and quality products. But, those types of changes have somehow skipped completely over the Phazer line, since 2007. I also think it would really be smart for Yamaha to fill that 100-hp range with something as well. If you want to gain market-share, I don't understand how you completely ignore some categories that other OEM's are doing quite well in. Also confusing to me is to have a significant update to the VK pro sled. Was anyone really asking for changes there, and how much does the VK actually add to the bottom line?
I don't think I/we need to jump ship to Doo or Polaris to voice some opinions of displeasure in the "plan". When you come out and make very bold statements about a 5 year plan and "new engines" and then do not deliver a single new engine to your lineup in 3 model years, you set yourself up to be criticized publicly by the very folks who support you most.

Ummm...the Vector engine is totally redesigned ( go do some reading).....as for the vk...it is a popular utility model..and sells well in Europe, Russia, Canada and Alaska (mostly at ski resorts)....I disagree with your assessment...I really like what yamaha is doing...there is no reason to update the apex...that 4 cylinder is an awesome engine...they have done many improvements to these sleds through the years...I'm excited to see the new skid..and hope this will be a winner for yamaha...there is no need for yamaha to reinvent the wheel...nobody else has new chassis or engines either....I figure if it makes u mad or if they aren't building what u want...go buy something else...snowmobiling is supposed to be a fun sport...if you aren't enjoying what u are riding try something else.I agree that the current lineup actually has many options/upgrades and quality products. - Bought a new 05 Vector which I still have
24K miles

Other than the wireless throttle and 3 setting power deal which to me is not wanted and only adding expensive complexity, plus some internal tweaks....please detail "totally redesigned" for me. I'm not bashing or complaining...quite the contrary! It's the best motor/chassis combo in the biz for us big mile trail riders.

Ok...here's one paragraph from max sled...
"They’ve kept the general dimension and displacement, but designed a new crank, pistons, connecting rods, and optimized casting shapes and materials. Then, they added a Yamaha Chip-Controlled Throttle (YCCT) and D-MODE."
......note...new crank, pistons, and connecting rods.(along with the new electronics)....is that not totally redesigned???

Btw...you are wrong about the wireless throttle, and 3 position setting...it's perfect for the Vector...and the rider yamaha is trying to target...what would u rather have a 900 ace?? Or a Vector?? They will be the only two sleds on the market with this tech...and it's very nice for new comers to the sport....the Vector with eps...can now be set up to run at a controlled speed for a beginner...my 100 lbs daughter can now drive a Vector and grow into it

Heritage, maybe you should do some reading. I did say that I agree with the lineup and the changes/upgrades made. The main focus of my "opinion" is they have done nothing to the Phazer in 9 years, and still ignore the 90 to 110 hp class. Everyone likes to talk about the cost of developing a new model, or crazy chassis changes, but it's impossible to gain any market share in a given segment if you have nothing to offer. You disagree with that?Ummm...the Vector engine is totally redesigned ( go do some reading).....as for the vk...it is a popular utility model..and sells well in Europe, Russia, Canada and Alaska (mostly at ski resorts)....I disagree with your assessment...I really like what yamaha is doing...there is no reason to update the apex...that 4 cylinder is an awesome engine...they have done many improvements to these sleds through the years...I'm excited to see the new skid..and hope this will be a winner for yamaha...there is no need for yamaha to reinvent the wheel...nobody else has new chassis or engines either....I figure if it makes u mad or if they aren't building what u want...go buy something else...snowmobiling is supposed to be a fun sport...if you aren't enjoying what u are riding try something else.
Say what you will about the Vector engine, but to me, it is not new. Significantly improved, yes but not new. New to me is taking one of their already developed engines; 847cc triple, 689cc twin, or hell even the 321cc twin and filling a segment to give your Yamaha guys something to consider instead of always having to look to the competition. And these engines are already developed, so I would hope the cost of getting one to work in a current Yamaha chassis would be more than reasonable, especially if your customers are asking for it.
And the VK? The fact that they actually did make significant changes makes the whole situation with not doing something in the mainstream markets is pure head scratcher, IMO. Sells well in Europe, Russia, etc. seriously?

I was told that this information on the Vector that was posted is not correct.

Whatever....I could careless about the phazer...the 900 ace might be a great sled..but ski-doos best selling sled is the 800 etec....who wants to buy a $9000 dollar, 100 hp sled...not me...especially when I can set up a 120 hp class sled with eps for a beginner...either way...I'm not going to argue with u...you have your opinion....I have mine....I like what yamaha did with the line up...and think they are doing the right thing.....I'm going riding...the trails are great right now...and my xtx rocks...see ya.
