Ok, here's what happened. After fixing dash plastic and putting headlight pod back together, I went to start sled to make sure it ran. This was 1st time its been started since putting away for summer. It's always a pain in the arse with this '09 Vector. Always finicky in season too to start. It took squirting gas in carbs to finally start and then wouldn't run without choke on at least a little. So, I am pretty sure a plug is fouled. After a few times of grabbing the throttle to keep it running the engine light came on with code 84. I see on TY it says that is TORS code. Would fouling a plug cause this? Or do I now have 2 separate issues? I worked the throttle on and off quite a few times before that light ever went on. So, I really think that it not idling on its own is fouled plug. The only other thing I messed with was the idle knob, which didn't make a difference no matter which way I turned it. But maybe turning that set tors off? Anyone know how idle knob is supposed to be set to begin with? There's no identifiable marking to even know where to begin? Any help is appreciated. I'm pretty frustrated right now. I will be putting a new set plugs in tomorrow night and at least know that part is taken care of.

TORS. Check to make sure you have slack in the throttle cable. Sometime putting the pod back on things get rerouted and tight.

Ok Steiner. Thanks. So, I am assuming I have 2 separate issues. My buddy talked to friend at dealer about plugs (never mentioned code to him, though) and he said he figured carbs were dirty. Not sure how when they were gone through 2 seasons ago and I religiously run sea foam in it throughout and at end of season. Guess I am doing plugs and cleaning carbs now. And if error code still on then adjusting throttle cable. What else? smhTORS. Check to make sure you have slack in the throttle cable. Sometime putting the pod back on things get rerouted and tight.

Try to get a "leak down" test done. The dealer called it this, when I had crappy starting issues, etc. It turned out an exhaust valve smashed the head and guide, and wouldn't hold compression in that cylinder. It took the dealer 2 years to figure this out, after bringing it in for numerous starting/running issues. Good thing it was under warranty.

Friend of mine had this issue with his 09 Vector a few years ago after sitting all summer. He did the same things as you. Tried to start sled without pressurizing fuel tank to get fuel to the fuel pump and only squirted fuel into carbs to get it to fire. Then he screwed the idle adjustment screw out to keep it running and set off the TORS. Screw the idle adjustment screw back in until you get the proper play in the throttle cable at the flipper on the handle bars. Clean your plugs. Make sure your fuel pump is drawing fuel from tank. Start the sled and let it warm up properly. Then take for a ride and get fuel flowing through the carbs. Then set your idle speed with the idle adjustment screw. When doing your first start of season with a carbed Vector pressurize your fuel tank by blowing in your vent hose to get fuel to your carbs, crank motor while tank is under pressure and it will always start like normal.

Handy, spot on! My buddy tore into the carbs and discovered a green needle in one of the carbs and a partial clog in a small jet. 2 plugs were pretty dark. So, cleaned carbs and put 3 new plugs in. Squirted gas in and turned the key. Fired right up. Light and code flashed again a couple times. Continued to run it tried adjusting idle by turning knob to get it near recommended spec of 1400 rpm. Sometime while doing this the light and code quit flashing. Turned off and on again. Idle went a little low, but no light or code. So, I'm leaving well enough alone. Thanks for all of the responses and suggestions.Friend of mine had this issue with his 09 Vector a few years ago after sitting all summer. He did the same things as you. Your idle may be a little low now but after a good long ride it should speed up. I have an 05 since new and usually at the beginning of the season the idle is a little low but after about a 20 mile ride it is back to normal. When I first owned the sled I would start up at the beginning of the season and go through all the checks before my first ride and adjust the idle up as per spec. Then on the first ride after about 20 or so miles the sled would not idle down properly and I would have to reset my idle speed. Now I just let it idle a little low and after a few miles everything is back to normal.
