I actually bought those mentioned shocks. I have the Doo shocks, a Phazer MTX skid and a Doo 1.5" crossover track all laying in a pile in my shed.

Someday. LOL too busy working on the kids stuff!!!

im calling my shock guy Monday morning to discuss. My rear is valved and still have major bottoming issues.

So are you getting your shock guy to valve them like Doo does? Ive said it 100 times in the past, Doo's really ride nice. IMO they always have, like since the early 90's to present day.
 
Yes. I’ll see if I can get him to stack a gytr shock like diagram that poster left.
I can absolutely agree with his explanation on how our shock can handle small, med washboard but fall on their face for any big hits. His explanation of why they do that makes complete sense. I didn’t get chance to call Jim but will tomorrow. Had a snow event here we weren’t expecting. Good 3”!!!!
 
Yamaha went way too stiff on the springs and shocks on the shorty Phazers. The rear torsion springs are stronger than available on any other yamaha model. The sole purpose of a rear spring is to maintain proper ride height, the weak MTX springs actually give me the proper ride height and puts the rear arm directly in the middle of the coupler blocks. The cheap, non serviceable shock that came in my MTX was actually valved pretty good! I see way too many guys toss stiffer springs in everything trying to avoid "bottoming" when in reality it's the shock valving that needs work. Same thing with cranking the torsion block to H, just about every sled I look at has the block set at H. The blocks purpose is to help you set the proper ride height.
 
Exactly Blue. Couldn’t agree more with that.
It’s unfortunate yamis gytr rear shock doesn’t include rebound adjustment. Imho, that’s the most important setting on all shocks.
