Exhaust donuts--YOU HAVE TO CHECK THEM

well............. that sucks. thanks for the heads up. guess I gotta take a peek at mine now too. I was hoping the fixed that on the nytros, but apparently not the case.

I'll have to add that to my list of annual fall replacements. This is what was worn out on mine after 5200 kms (3250 miles)

- upper balljoints
- lower balljoints - changed mid season - got updated ones now.
- oil/filter change - 3rd change
- steering tie rod ends
- steering shaft bushings
- exhaust donuts - maybe?
- hyfax - changed mid season
- a-arm bushings
- rear skid - nylon sliders above center shock
- bolt for lower gear - chaincase
- drive belt - on my 4th one

Anyone notice anything else worth looking at?

How many miles did you have last year?

Obviously since you had a broken lower gear bolt, you changed your chain case oil?

I also had some slop in the spindle bushings for the ski mount.

I finished the season with 3250 miles, after today I have just under 3500 miles.

Yeah - I replaced my track, added 144 studs, replaced chaincase oil, replaced spindles under warranty, so I got new bushings there too - they were shot as well.

missing a few studs already in 200 miles - a few of the nylon backers were smashed/missing. gonna go all aluminum.

I think my donuts are shot without even looking. Heard it on the way home today buzzing/rattling - not cool.

The biggest thing driving me crazy right now is the misfire in the midrange. Was supposed to test another set of coils, but didn't get the chance. The motor might be bullet proof, but the rest of the sled..........needs constant attention.

Not good!! We tried to tell my buddy to be safe and get the aluminum backers and let others test out the nylon ones. He just studded them Saturday. Needless to say, I am not going to be following him down the trail.

Yeah it sux, I know. I retightened them after 1 ride - quite a few were loose. I'd say about 6 singles were smashed/missing. & 2 doubles were smashed. I pulled the rest of my singles out before yesterdays ride - just to be safe.

Lost 2 or 3 studs, just from the backer smashing, the nut loosening off, and the stud going bye bye. Lucky me it didn't go through the heat exchanger.

He didn't use studboy backers did he?

No, I think they are fast track (Sp??).

I don't know....before he bought them, we warned him. Now he will have to see for himself.

Maybe I missed it but do you have the new Studboy plastics?

Yes - I do. Or I should say, I did!! lol You know the really bright shiny colorful ones. The ones that BREAK!

edit - just got off the phone with Studboy - they had a bad batch that made it out the door. They've identified & fixed the problem and are going to warranty mine no questions asked!!

My choice of aluminum or nylon backers & they are replacing the studs that I lost.

MUCH better than I was expecting.

Funny thing - he asked "do you ride a Yamaha". I was like what? yeah.
He said I was the 3rd one he's heard of breaking backers - that the tracks were a bit too thick - I said that wasn't my issue as I'm running a predator track.

Oh well, at least they are taking care of me. Hmmmm.......do I give the "updated" nylon ones another go? or should I learn my lesson and just run the aluminum ones.

The colors are so purty, what to do, what to do????

Plastic, by its nature, creeps under load so your nuts - those on the studs in your track - will require retightening frequently. Go with aluminum.

Maybe just a little off topic here?

Good call on the nylon!

Now back to the topic of donuts - I like Timmy Ho's myself. lol

Sorry Lucky for wrecking your post - I'll shut up now.
