Did you cut the tabs down on the clamps so that they will tighten further??and I believe there are vendors out there that sell "better" or longer lasting donuts.

Warm the sled up and stick your head under the tunnel and listen for the leak...its very noticable..unless you bought it with blown donuts then you probably wouldn't notice. There are a couple threads that explain how to change them...hour job, no biggy.

enough so the clamp can fully close...that tab/collar or whatever you want to call it stops it from tightening all the way...just put new donuts in saturday and did it with a zip wheel...heard it helps.Hell, it can't hurt!

Here is an interesting piece of info...
My gaskets are starting to leak and I have just under 3000 miles on my 2009 XTX. I called to order 3 new ones from the dealer and there is a new part number recently for the gaskets. They also said the gaskets come with a new bolt for the clamps. The dealer thinks this may be a new gasket design and may be made from better material.
Can anyone confirm this? or are these still the same old ones people have been replacing every few 1000 miles?
I ordered these and am expecting them soon. The new part number (Yamaha USA) is 99999-03989-00 and it replaces 8FA-14623-00-00.

I know those are the part #'s for the updated Apex exhaust donuts. It is a kit that also comes with 1 donut and a stainless steel bolt for the exhaust clamps, to replace the old bolt. These won't corrode I guess.
Provided that the Nytro uses the same donuts as the apex, those are the updated ones. They are made of a different metal and allegedly last longer. I guess only time will tell.
I just ordered 4 of them and I will install once I get my Excell S.S. headers.
Crazy that the Nytro and Apex use the same exhaust donuts, eh????

Thx DanX, I was told the bolt is there for corrosion issues and the donut's metal composition was changed, so that the updated donuts should hopefully last longer. Who knows, eh.?

easy job to do. also when replacing them grind the collar of the clamps down a little to make them tighter. .i also at the same time replaced the torx nuts that hold the header pipe in place with stainless bolt and installed them with a little antiseize on them.

I think mine are going on my 08 nytro, sounds like a bag of wrenches rattling around under there. And I tried the rag in the tail pipe tip and it still runs. Stumbles some but still runs. So need to do them I'm guessing.
How do I get to the donuts on the nytro? That is one part of the sled that I haven't had apart yet. Any tips or tricks to the replacement? Any advice is appreciated
thanks guys
