Exhaust/muffler removal

So you are saying you don't have to remove the tank, but it makes it easier if you do? Sorry, not following fully.
Yes, that's what Im saying.

No need to remove tank but it not hard to remove. On my warrior I wound up having to drop the rear of the skid because the flanges would not let go. I used a flat screw driver blade to pry the flanges open a bit but as someone said heat might work as well. Block of wood and a 4 pd hammer was used to free the assembly and yes multiple curse words where used separately and in combinations!

So you were able to get to clamps from inside tunnel? Clamps were positioned correctly? Did you do anything from above where the seat goes?

Yup I was looking at the wrong FAQs! I need to look through those. Thanks.

NP anyone who is a first time Apex/Attak owner should spend a few hours reading them.

Yup, that's what I just did. Some REALLY good info in there, thanks!

If I decide to go all the way through the exhaust to check for cracks and the donuts, what replacement donuts are recommended? I've read about copper ones, but seems like some aren't much better than the original ones. Then I read Yamaha came out with new ones that are much better (I think, unless the person was talking about the connection between the tail of the Y pipes where they connect to the muffler pipes).

What would you guys recommend? I think I'm building up the courage to go all the way in and make sure the whole exhaust from the motor on outward is good. Thank you.

Thanks. Just looked over the text thread from when I was talking to the guy I bought the sled from. He did confirm copper donuts were put in when he swapped the exhaust for the aftermarket one. But I'm not sure he was talking about the ones at the engine. There aren't anywhere the muffler connects to the Y pipes are there?

no the only place copper ones would be is up front and if they are in there you shouldn't have to tear that apart.

Well I think that's comforting. Should I do the exhaust plug test, to see if it will die if I plug them, to be sure? Part of me says just take a look, but I hate to tear all that extra stuff apart if I really don't have to. Anyway to look from underneath? I have an inspection camera.
