Hey Guys,

I hope that you all had a great winter! I got in four great trips but on the last one I let my track get too loose and my studs wore through my exhaust pipes right where the muffler assembly connects to the two pipes coming from the motor.

I think that the stainless is probably a little thin to fill in with a weld so I am hoping that I can have someone weld a small stainless patch over this area. The dealer wants $600 for the muffler assembly so I would really like to repair it if possible.

I am not a welder myself so I am looking for some advise from anyone who has experience repairing similar damage. Thanks in advance for the help!

You could find a cheap takeoff here or ebay under $300. You might try taking it to a local muffler shop.

I'd probably use that as an excuse for springing for an Excell exhaust.

There are probably a few wrecked pipes around, get someone to send you the Y section. I have the two pipes before they join the Y. Mine broke off right where they join. U can have them for the price of shipping. I can send u some pic's later if u wish. That pipe is easy to mig weld, fixed 2 broken pipes and still going strong after 2 years.

If you are ever in the St. Cloud area, I would be happy to weld them up for you.

Thanks guys for the three prompt replies! I will try a local welder and if that does not work out I may be taking you up on your offers to help.

My original Y pipes were titanium but they have since been replaced under warranty with the newer stainless steel version. The rear muffler section (which I damaged) is stainless steel as TBay said.

So far my YES has paid for two sets of donuts and one set of Y pipes. Unfortunately YES does not cover damage to the exhaust system from studs!

If you can wait until Haydays, I will bring you a replacement muffler.

Thank you for the offer! I think that I will take you up on it. I already put the sled up in my storage loft where it will stay until after Hay Days so the timing is fine. I have sent you a PM.

weld exhaust

I have a great welder, that has welded my exhaust while on the sled. He unbolted the back, and lifted the back with a chainfall. He layed on the track, and did a wonderful job He has welded it twice.

Teamblue4 made me an offer that I can't refuse on a perfect take-off exhaust system. I am going to meet him at Hay Days and then install it when I take my sled down from my storage loft in the fall.

Thanks again guys for all of the replies. I hope that you all have a great summer!
