DANO, does the MBRB EXHAUST have any kind of crossover ? I believe they don't which would result in a loss of low end torque.

Wait a minute.....................
We have one guy swap clutches to another sled with a MRB
and now we think all exhausts lose power?????????
That is a pretty rare can. On this site people have White Knuckle, Bender, Maxx performance, Hauck and Excell. As a rule people are pretty happy with them
The only way to tell for sure is to run a baseline dyno, stock, change the exhaust and do another run on the same dyno. I am sure at least one of the above listed vendors has done that.
Power loss at the bottom.
Just for the sake of arguement, lets say an exhaust gains 3 hp at 10,000 RPM and it loses 3 HP at 4800 and below. Who cares, they way the clutching works you are only at that RPM for a second.

Hey guys,
I have the MBRP exhaust on my RX-1, yes it does have a crossover, I had this exhaust put on first with the stock clutching and ran it that way for about 500km. About the only thing I can really say was out and out noticeable was the weight savings vs. stock. I didn't really find much of a power gain, if there was one it really wasn't noticeable, however i didn't notice a loss of power either nor off the line performance difference. One thing with the aftermarket pipes is you may have the "it SOUNDS like I gained horsepower" mentality. I really like my MBRP pipes, greatly improved sound and not once was I ever bothered about them being loud. Everyone that heard them or rides with me aswell really liked how they sounded. When I put on the Stage 2 clutch kit it, I didn't find that my pipes made a difference to where I would rev out to, I just had to play around with the clutch to find the best set up to hit the 10,200 range, which took me a while as i would try a different set up and then do a long ride to feel how the setup would react in a variety of conditions.
When it comes to the aftermarket can on 2-strokes, I had an MBRP on my SRX and found that sure it sounded (to) loud, but it definetly affected my performance and actually gas mileage. I got better mileage and performance with the stock exhaust. I say that but don't necisarily blame it on the exhaust as I played with that sled to much and couldn't seem to get it to work right for the extra performance i was looking for. I think you have the right idea ROTAX with looking to set it up with everything right from the start and go with either one dealer or one brand. The dealers on here are great to deal with and they have tried everything so we don't have to!

I changed exhaust in 2003 from stock to White Knuckle Performance on the asphalt and gained .3 in a 1/4mile. THAT'S A HUGE GAIN!
You can find it in the 2003 asphalt results topic in the racing forum.
White Knuckle Performance is an outstanding provider for aftermarket exhausts. I was personally at their facility, and saw their results from testing. That is why I went with their brand.
This is why I took a stock RX1 to the track and tried so many different mods, to see what worked, and what didn't. "Proof in the puddin'"

Very nice intelligent posts guys
Dano, I am very up on MBRP pipes and mufflers from 2 strokes. But as far as the four strokes go, have not heard much about them. 2 stroke pipes almost always require jetting and clutch changes to get a gain.
4 strokes are less critical.
On the car and motorcycle forums, if you claim something without scanning and posting your dyno runs, you can get flamed for it
A header is the most criticall component on a four stroke and yamaha has given us a new 4>2>1 titanium piece, gotta love that.
Modern exhaust systems are very good today on just about everything. But they are so dang quiet that they are usually choked off at the high end and uncorking the exhaust usually helps at least a little.
It is difficult to be objective with any mod. It is true more noise does not equal more power. With my White Knuckle, I was fully prepaired to yank it off if I did not like the sound or felt it hurt or did not help performance.
My personal opinion is it makes power but I did not go to the trouble of doing dyno runs to prove it
NOS-PROs post above has more meaning than all the rest of ours 8) He has studied up on what gives good results and has documented proof of the gains.
