I bought a used 144" expert x skid. How do I remove the shocks/springs? The bottom bolt is easy enough to figure out, but how does the top shaft come apart to remove the other end?

It is pretty easy. Just remove the mounting bolts and the shaft will slide right out..
Before you start pulling though, make sure you pay attension to which bushings go where. There are many spacers and bushings on that shaft.
I have a blue print (exploded view) if you have trouble.
Good luck!

Ok, I got the spring/shock assembly off (the outside wheel took a bit of persuasion). Is there a trick to remove the spring? I have the preload adjuster to first notch, and it looks like the bottom "nut" that is threaded onto the shock body needs to be loosened to be able to remove the top piece holding the spring in. I can not loosen this nut. Any suggestions?
Also, what about the brass nut with a screw inside it on the bottom of the shock? It looks like it will interfere with that bottom "nut" if loosened. Does it have to be removed also?
Thanks

You'll need a spring compressor....

Don't mess with the nut. Just back the preload adjuster to the lowest setting(like you have it) and borrow someones spring compressor.

Regarding the spring compressor, if you have a discount tool supplier local to you, they sell new for something like 10-12 dollars - a pair.

Thanks guys. I finally got the springs off with use of a spring compressor. Springs are out to be powder coated and the shocks sent out to be rebuilt. Hopefully it all goes back together a bit easier.
