I have a brand new stock 2" 151 sitting in my garage to go on my 04 RX1 Mountain. I want to put extroverts on and cut the windows. I was told to put on dual driver extroverts and fully clip the track. First of all, is the chisel and hammer method the best way to cut windows?? Second, is clipping necessary? What extroverts should I buy??

Dazed and even more confused.

The chisel and hammer method worked well for me - take the time to sharpen your chisels before you start. I didn't clip it and had no problems at all, so I wouldn't bother. I used the Wahl Bros extroverts and they worked fine.

I also punched my track with chisel and hammer. I also skimmed over the track edges with a quick-fire propane torch.

It's better if you don't have to clip the track cause the taller lugs require a very expensive tool that can reach past them, or from undernieth. Channel-locks couldn't do it either. I borrowed a tool that got all the open areas, but I had to take the track to a Ski-Doo dealer, and they had to order a new tool cause the one they had couldn't bite hard enough. They charged me $25 for 36 and I supplied the clips.

BTW: I had my track out, and ran it through the legs of a saw-horse with a 2X8 deck.

Extrovert drivers for the track - they drive the track using the track windows.

Combination internal/external drivers drive off of the standard 'nubs' on the inside of the track and through the windows.

What about using a holesaw?

I helped punch out a track and found the chisel method to work very well. I would have to agree with tmk50 on the sharpening part. When we started, the chisels were not very sharp and did not work very well. You have to make sure they are very sharp. Only took us about 30-45 mins to punch the entire track after we sharpened the chisels.

I just punched out the windows from my track using a chisel and rubber mallet. It worked great! Thanks guys. Now, I just need to figure out the difference between 8 and 9 tooth anti-ratchet drivers.

Royal has no Wahl drivers in the 06 Catalogue. However, Royal do have Super Sprockets by Micro Belmont Engineering. $115 each. Yikes!

I just looked up "helped" in Webster's dictionary and it does NOT say "standing with beer in hand watching".

Yeah the chisels worked good. To clip the track we borrowed a home made tool that looked like a giant set of bolt cutters. You used it from the inside of the track. I left the track on to do it and that was a mistake. My arm still hurts!! :o|

I just looked in the "Jon" Dictionary and it actually states that "standing with beer in hand watching" is considered "helping" :drink:
