what's the factory idler wheel size for RS sleds? There's so many different idler wheel sizes and I can't find the size that's on there now. Whats the largest you can run on hte back withought other modifications?

Thinking about getting the slydog bogies.

TrailxRider, I looked at going to the Slydog wheels and decided I liked the Yamaha ones better for a lot less money. I am running three of the 178 mm rear idlers wheels on my Rage and after 2,400 miles they still look like new. And of coarse the bearings are replaceble. As my Bogies die I am replacing them with a pair of the 130 mm wheels. I just put on my first set of 130 mm wheels this summer after I found one of the inner Bogies ahd a frozen bearing. G.B.

Bogies are 130 mm

Rear Idlers are 178 mm

Gone Blue,,, what does it cost to just replace the bearings on those 130 and 178's by yamaha?

I noticed that if I gently push down on the track so it's not touching the small wheels and try and spin them there seams like a lot of resistance and they dont spin like I thought they would. Shouldn't they spin freely? This is why I'm considering new wheels. They won't even do one full revolution on one push. They go if I turn them but figured they should go around at least once withought me manually forcing them. Guessing it's putting extra work onto the track. Maybe this is normal. I don't know. I have 900 miles on the sled.

I'll bet they're ok but can't say for sure. Turn them slow with some pressure on them to see if you feel roughness in the bearing. My skid is on the bench right now and the bogeys spin free, but wobble badly because the bearings are loose. The wheels themselves are bad too, so I have a pair of the accessory wheels on the way from Nelson's as GB suggested. Less than 20.00 each and have replaceable bearings.

I would not replace the bearings with the Yamaha ones. They are great bearings but expensive. The last time I bought bearings was for my Viper wheels and I bought bearings at my local Napa store for something like $8 each. I think the Yamaha ones are like $20 for just the bearing which is crazy considering you can buy the accessory wheel with the bearing for that. G.B.

Trail, like twomore says, if the wheels dont seem to have rough spots I would run them. Just keep an eye on them. I think a few of my wheels dont spin freely either. The one I replaced didnt spin at all. It was frozen or locked up. G.B.

I purchased some bicycle chain lube in an aeresol spray to lubricate my bogie wheels. With the track off the ground and a broom handle between the track and rail, spin each bogie while spraying the oil onto both sides of the bearing. You will be amazed at how this frees them up. If the bearing growls while spinning the wheel, it is time to replace them. Doing this several times during the season prolongs the life of these bearings.
Be sure to use the little red extension tube that comes with the spray
