I am wondering if it is possible to install fan on 07 standard without updating the wiring harness? My sled runs cool on the trail but once I decide to play in the powder after a little bit the coolant light comes on. Right now I tip it on its side and clean out the front heat exchanger and the light goes out until the heat exchanger gets packed with snow again.
Next year I'm putting a paddle track on. That should help but I'm not sure it will solve it. I'd like to go on trips out west but dont want to deal with overheating in deep powder. Ive been on this forum for a while and have learned alot over the years. All the info has been great. Thanks

I dont think so. the 07 standard i believe needs the updated harness to have the fan. Just the FX and GT models have the plug for the fan, if i remember correctly.

I would ask the dealer to check for sure... I believe my sled required a whole new wiring harness be installed (2007 Phazer base model)!

I guess that could be true.... but my 07 fx...as I bought it was plug and play. dealer did not have time for the install, so he let me do it. It plugged right in. maybe mine already had the harness....but I did buy it new w zero miles

You have to update the harness. You should think about putting that screen in front of the radiator it keeps a lot of the snow out.

fan

My wife has the 07 base model as well, I looked into putting the fan on hers too, but ran into the same issue. (the wire harness is only about 400 bucks, then you still have to buy the fan for another, 180.)

I have been doing alot of talking with various techs and have been told to buy the fan and just wire in a toggle switch someplace on the sled. That way if the temp light comes on she could flip the switch to start the fan. Another tech told me to just wire it directly to the battery with an inline fuse and let it run the entire time.

This summer I am planning on doing something, but have not decided which way to go. I will post pic this summer when I do it though...
