I am in NY and my Viper LTX just arrived the problem is the dealer has no information on the rear suspension from Yamaha. I weigh 300 LBS and I need as a minium to put heavier torsion springs in. He is making phone calls to see what he can find out but anything that anyone can offer as advice would be appreciated.

You might get a better answer if you search the ArcticChat forums, as this suspension has been in use for several years on the Arctic Cat sleds. I'm sure there's fatties there too.

I found it easier to lose wieght than to re-engineer my other sleds
I went from 240 to 180 made a mess of my shock valving setups

Why do you need new springs? Can't you adjust this suspension setup for your weight?? I'm not tiny either, weigh 225, when I bounce on my ltx it barely moves up and down, now I havnt touched anything on it yet as for adjustments and such... But to me you'd be able to compensate for the weight...

Slayer687 I have owned 16 new yamaha's and I have revalved and put heavier springs on eveyone. In the old days the area yamaha rep had my sled setup for me before delivery that isn't the case anymore. I ride over 2,000 miles a year and I am handicapped from a motorcycle ancident and i don't like to bottom out. Maybe I am jumping the gun but Yamaha is not very friendly about giving my dealer info. on the sled.
Thanks all
PS Dog you will gain it back I went from 350 to 185 and gained it back not all but some.

I have found the part number for XF7000 which has the same suspension as the VIPER spring # stock for AC 1704-576/577 the next heavier #1704-560/561 and the big boy 1704-710/711. Because Yamaha still has their head up their #$$ I will buy the AC springs and install them myself.

Thanks for looking up the part numbers. Waiting on my black LTX. I am interested in how the rear springs are coming as well. If my past four Yamaha's are any indication I wouldn't be surprised if the stock springs were even softer than Arctic Cats. Will be happy if they are as stiff. The 09 Nytro XTX stock springs were 40% softer than an 08 RTX. Ulmer racing had the stiffer springs for the XTX to make it take moguls like the RTX.
Skidoo Slayer Changing the pre-load on the stock springs, by changing the tri-blocks will work for some people. This makes the sled stiffer through the suspensions motion at a constant force for all positions. I.e. it shifts the linear spring curve stiffer. By changing the rate of the spring(changing springs) the slope of the curve is changed. So it can still soak up the small bumps at a small preload and then ramp up to take the nasty ones without bottoming.

Good info here. Thanks guys. Hope Yamaha offers all the suspension options and specs Cat does soon. Real soon.

I picked up my sled Yesterday and the dealer said yamaha will have their part numbers out for the springs next week.

Had dealer install 1704-560/561 spring on my new viper LTX and they moved the tri blocks to the lightest setting. Have just a few miles in the sled but dear suspension feels fine. Hope to hit some bumps this weekend to see how front and rear suspension feel.
