Anyone have any comments on a fiberglasss capped trailer. I am looking into one and it does look nice but wasn't sure how well the hold up over time compared to the standard aluminum caps. Any comments would be awesome :yam:

I have a tomco and love it . Not the best looking out there .Everyone says it looks like an igloo.
Mine is more rounded that some and pulls great even in a cross wind.
Mine is about 6 yrs old now and has stood up great , some small spider cracks but no problems

I have had a "top cap" on a Newman Trailer since 97. Other than minor working on hinge points (front & rear load) it had worked flawless. I got caught in a hail storm at a grass drag a couple years ago. The aluminum trailers (& my truck) got large amounts of damage (some totalled) while my trailer did not have a mark. It does not sweat like some of the aluminum ones do either. Pulls great!

Google Top Cap trailer. It is a mold that was purchased by FAST INC. Canada. They do didtribute here in the states and it is a 1st rate product. I believe that it is only made in 18(4 place) and 12'(2place) lengths. My buddies Dad had one and now my buddy purchased it from him. It is about 9 years old and looks brand new. My Alum. Triton cover is 2 years old and looks like it is 9 y/o due to dings and scratches(genereal wear and tear).

I think that the fiberglass cover will outlast the trailer. IMO

I had a topcap that I installed myself on a 96" triton elite, pricy but well worth it, hinged on the front &back, had to upgrade to a 3place snopro inline, wish I could afforded to have both. Easy to fix fiberglass in case of a mishap was my way of thinking.

Fiberglass is heavier than the aluminums but usually more aerodynamic because the way they mold them. You may suffer some spider cracks, but some of the aluminums dent easy. I have a Floe aluminum trailer and cap. I really like the trailer end of it, the cap is fine but wished I had the gull wing instead of the lift cap.

I love my TOP CAP, other than lighter I can see no advatage to aluminum. It dents, paint scratches easier than gelcoat.
My 2 cents.

Top Cap

I've got a 12' Triton Elite Drive-on Drive off with the V-front, and a fiberglass Top Cap cover, all 2005 models. Tows incredibly well, much more stable in a cross wind than my Triton with a Triton aluminum top was. The hinges are very impressive, quite solid. Put the Triton ski glides on, plus 4 clamps for tie downs that are flush mounted in the channel guides. Everything about it is fantastic, except the brackets for the top are set in about 2" from the side, need to be careful in loading alignment. I'm now thinking about getting a three place or four place for next year, so I may try to sell this. The wife and kiddos have had a great time on our northern adventures, so I see a Polaris 120 and a Vector in our growing familiy's stable!! I wish Yamaha made a sled for kids under 10 :(
