Got 18" of lake effect today and could not resist tatking the GT out for some road riding. This is my first Yamaha and my first 4-stroke, so I did not know what to expect. I was somewhat skeptical of all the good press this sled has been receiving. I have not read even a hint of negative press. Well in my book, the press is dead on! I know it is only 10 miles of road riding, but this sled is impressive. My first impression was how quickly the moter revs, really quick, no hesitation at all on the throttle. As quick reving as any 2-stroke i've ridden. When you crack it, the front of the GT seems to jump up slightly and foward, very cool feeling. The sled seemed well balanced and landed nicely when hitting piles of snow left in the road by plows and snowblowers. I don't care how much the thing weighs, it does not feel heavy. I would not say it feels light, but not any heavier than any XC that I've ridden over the past 5 years. It felt very settled ant 80MPH and very controllable when hitting the bumps. Several times I did get a blast of snow in the face, I think from the skis, when at speed in the deep stuff. The wind ornament looks too good to change so that is something I will have to deal with.

One more thing, love the sound. Can't wait to do some trail riding.

I have 14 Mi on my GT now and put the CPR clutch kit in today. If you want to put a smile on your face that won't go away get the CPR kit. I giggled to my self every second that i rode it today, Awsome !!!! kviper :moon:

Yep. Lake effect snow south of Buffalo started last night and snowed persistantly until about 1:30 PM today. Then the snow band moved further south. Don't know how much they received but in Hamburg, we got pounded.

We only got 6" down here in the southern tier but I did just go out at 9pm tonight to have a taste of the GT. I only got to ride it in a field across the street so it really wasn't any test. The thing that I noticed and was very pleased about is this thing transfers just wonderful. The last sled I ever had that transfered this well was the 1996 Formula III 600. But that sled was a tank in (ride and stearing), by comparison. This suspension feels smooth. The engine feels like the power of 800 twin out of the whole but its so smooth and quiet its deceptive. It is so good that there is nothing else to compare it with. I think this suspension is going to be the cats meow! I really hated to take my first ride at night but I had to do it! Very Very nice sled!

we got between 12in to 21 in different spots in western ny . i rode about 20 miles on apex an about 10miles 04 warrior . was a blast
