Had a chance to take my first ride on my APEX ER today on Tug Hill. Rode about 110 miles. Trails were good in the morning, but deteriorating fast in the afternoon due to the fact there were alot of sledders riding and the 12-20 inches of lake effect snow was getting compact down fast.

The Apex is a very smooth sled and deceptively quick. I like the riding position much better than on an RX-1. You sit up so much higher and definately feel like your more in control in the aggressive position. The ride is very smooth, but there were not alot of rough bumps today. At first the sled seemed tight when you punched it, but it was loosening up nicely as we rode. You can easily getting going much faster than you think. The sled was actually quieter than an RX-1.

As for negatives, the only comment I have is on the windshield. With the stock windshield it is very cold riding and today the temperature was only in the mid 20's. So I will definately be looking into a taller shield. Also the handlebar heaters do not seem to heat as well as the ones on the RX-1. I rode with a 05 RX-1 and they definately got warmer. The thumb warm is very powerful.

It will be interesting to see if the Apex can take the shoot-out crown this year. I think the RX-1 was as fast as the Fusion and ZR900 last year. The Z is definately fast, especially on top end, but in 1000 ft drag, I think the Apex will hold its own. The F7 will also definately be a challenge in this type of distance. If they run a broke in Apex, I think it could be the quickest at 1000ft. :4STroke:

It goes much better now w/over 100 miles dosent it?? Wait till we get 500 miles everything should be getting much looser, mine now has over 200 miles and it pulls real hard in the mid,but fall a little off on top end according to gps only 109 i was a little surprised when i saw speedo readings of 128 and could not see any over 109 gps.. ;)!

Stud your sled . I had the same problem with my 2002 srx. Also your rpm's should be lower. They like to run in the 10200 to10400 range as per allen ulmer.Gearing is also a little diff on the attack. I think this is what you said you have?????
