First Ride With Aftermarket Silencer

I'd like to check some Super-Q silencers out for sound level, I've checked a few Ultra-q out on a different sleds and they were just below or right at the Legal Limit so the Super-q has to be way over. My Viper with the Ulmer Quiet can is noticeably quieter than the Ultra Q on my phazer (2 db by my meter) and roughly 2 db louder than the stock muffler on my Phazer. I never tested the stock suitcase on the Viper but the Ulmer Quiet/straightline isn't much louder. I live less than 500' from the trail and can't hear stock sleds inside my house, Wife said she can't hear my Phazer/Viper either until I come up the driveway. Race/mountain can sleds can be heard easily inside the house, especially those crossing the highway after midnight racing to the next bar.

My super q is no louder than those annoying Harleys I have to listen to going down the street, 8 months outta the year. Or all those stupid diesels rolling coal.
Yes I do help with the trails, yes I am part of a club. Its all personal preference. If cannondale27 would like to buy me a new exhaust for his likings, that would be great otherwise. I dont really care what you think. I mainly ride ditches and back country trails up north so i dont need permission Canonball27...is ok if i leave this on my sled DAD.

Im sorry, i have to step in here because i am 25 years old, have a practically straight piped Harley 2-1 ( sounds awesome), i also have a big bad diesel truck with another straight pipe ( 5 inch and the only smoke it rolls is off the back tires) , and now i have a sr viper with a new to me D&D exhaust which is ridiculously loud and ill probably get rid of it if i cant ride it in the public areas with out being respectful.

Now let me explain something, I pay taxes/registration fees and license fees to drive my annoying loud harley and big bad diesel truck on asphalt roads. So in my personal opinion, i think people are allowed to do what they want with there vehicles.

Now, if your such a big help in a snowmobile club, then you must know how it feels to go to land owners home (my club has to visit over 100 land owners) and politely ask them to use THERE land for FREE to let the public ride on it. They dont make money off anything, they are just being super generous.... so if your a little hurt over Steves post. I think you should put yourself on the other side of the fence, change your preference a little bit because land owners probably prefer to not here annoying loud sleds.

Treat others the way you would like to be treated my friend.

That’s the real difference there. Streets don’t get closed for loud exhausts. But trails do!

I ride ditches and back country trails up north. not sure what your getting at hardly any houses on gunflint or rj ramstead state trail.. i also pay taxes and fees to ride my snowmobile. Your loud harleys are 25 ft from my front door and I dont drive around peoples front yards or town for that matter.Yes i realize some land owners dont like it but thats their problem and their prerogative. Our trails around here dont run right next to peoples houses and we have more problems with trespassing not loud sleds thats why trails get closed down.
So i guess Canterbury wont have races this year in town becuase of the noise? I reserve the right to put whatever loud @$$ exhuast on my sled that i want. Go roll some coal and and hug a tree..what do your neighbor's think everytime you leave your house on your straight pipes...maybe you should take your own advise.

So to review i dont ride around town or people's houses. I ride up north most of the time where the population is like 5 people per 5 square miles. people comment that it sounds nice. Yes i realize that land owners dont get anything in return. But when they agree to let clubs use it for trails they must realize there will be noise involved.

Nice of you to care but you obviously don't read well. WHERE I RIDE MY LOUD EXHAUST SNOWMOBILE IS HEARD BY ME AND MY FELLOW RIDERS. NOT SURE THE DEER AND WOLVES CARE.

On the other hand how may people do you annoy when you drive your loud harley around town or when you decide to roll coal.

Viper all I ask is that you pay attention. If you go anywhere near a house and you see lights go on. If your buddies and others out of the blue say man is that loud. Then get rid of the pipe. If not many houses then just go easy on throttle when near them. I have open exhaust for performance not noise. When trail riding I have a modded stock can I run that is very quiet. But when playing my open goes on. I get it. But if I could get performance of open as quiet as a Buick I would have one. Oh and I am not your Daddy I don't believe.

Thank you for being in a club and helping out.

I also have the exhaust for performance reasons and maintenance reasons ..you act like i just have it for the noise yes its loud, but all aftermarket exhausts are loud..i don't think its loud...i think its mean sounding. Maybe you need to write a letter to all the exhaust manufacturers out there and tell them your concerns.

I act like that because that is exactly what YOU say:
I bought the exhaust from stormin Norman...yes its louder than stock but sounds mean and is great for maintenance ...the louder the better...my buddys can defiantly hear me coming..loud pipes save lives.
Set of ear buds or plugs does the trick .

You can have the last word Viper Strike and then this thread will be locked. Don't have time to play this game. Will give you a taste of what happens when you tick someone off.
