2015 yamaha viper exhaust question best exhaust opinions wanted

Does anyone know a TY member that has run this can from SBM?

I’m interested in it because they claim it’s not too loud, and it’s big like the stock exhaust. It kind of looks similar to the stock 2 stroke exhaust that’s in the 800 cats. So I’m hoping it’s quiet enough that it won’t close trails or seem out of the ordinary for the troopers or wardens. And if for some reason they did want me to pop the side panel it might pass for a somewhat stock exhaust. I may weld a bracket to it so I can mount the stock exhaust heat shields.... I don’t want to close trails and I don’t want a rediculous ticket either. I’m thinking about the Ulmer header and this can. And a Power Commander.

No but looks promising. Alot of $ though. Sure looks like some type of Automotive silencer modded to fit Viper. Has to be better performing than stock or even stock modded but is it quiet?

Most can builders will give a decibel rating on their site. Maybe you could compare it that way.

The bottom picture shows it’s almost a straight through design. It has a decent curve to it but you can still see daylight on the other side. I’d like to run an Ulmer header, the SBM can, mod my airbox for even more airflow, and add a PC. The two things I’m worried about is : I’ve never messed with a PC before, and it absolutely cannot be more than a few db’s louder than stock.

Stock is quieter than any Aftermarket can. Especially with header. Yes the header does increase noise especially the Ulmer but it works. Stock can is terribly restrictive. I sure hope that SBM can is quiet. PCV is fun once you get comfortable with it. I can walk you through that on the Phone if you buy that SBM can and test back to back with stock can. No DB meter needed I trust your opinion.

I’ll give you a call for sure when I start trying to figure out the PC. I’d like to gut my stock can and try making my own custom can (internals), keep the outside portion stock. My father in law has a welding a fab. shop so I have access to all sorts of welding / bending tools. But lookin on the realistic side; I have all sorts of time to dream about cool projects right now, but when I get home to the wife, kids, house and full time job, I will probably end up buying the exhaust because time will become a more precious commodity than $$.
