hey i just turned 20,565 kms. (12,779) miles on my 06 gt, was wondering if i should do valve adjustment soon or when? is it a waste or time or money if dealer did it or what milage should i do it? does anyone have past experience? i just pounded 560 miles hard runnin in 2.5 days in mi and this thing ran perfect , oil didn't use a drop not 1 single hiccup, friends ptec 800 ho fresh rebuild with can and vforce could only hold me ski to ski for first few seconds after that i was gawn!! anyway gonna do a stator just cause but was curious as to the valve adjustment part of things, thanks

Dont touch it!

awww ok nice!! thanks alot;)!

Yamaha says 25,000 miles. But when it starts real bad in COLD weather & starts ok when not cold, then get it done. It's not critical so finish season & have it done in off season...

k ill keep that in mind, its sounds kind of funny but in the back of my head i was thinking the sled will let me know when it wants it! gues thats kinda what ur sayin !!! thanks

Stevewithocd has it right. Had mine done on my warrior at 13k and it ran like a new sled after.

Should have done it earlier.

new sled as in better fuel milage? power? cause seriously i feel no lack of power but gettin roughly 11 mpg hard runnin with pc 3 and ign module with ulmars 91 octane map

My sled was totally stock. Issues I had were hard starts, burning more oil, loss of throttle response.

Dealer did them and my throttle response was crazy and it started so much easier. Mpgs went back up to high teens as well.

Dealer told me the valve adj according to manual is a joke. Sled engine is running at diff rpms than the street bikes are and it is just not the same. He has done some with 2k miles he said. Depends on fuel and how you drive it.

First of all the RX-1's needed valve adjustments sooner & more importantly than the Apex's. Secondly, when Yamaha put this motor in a snowmobile, they only had motorcycle data to go on. The EXTREME starting & running conditions were not accounted for. It's less than $300 to have done...

My RX has 18,000 miles runs and starts perfectly. Fuel economy is still the same and power is spot on. I don't understand whats wrong with it! :dunno:

I agree squatch. Mine has 18,000 & I'm just starting to see some hard cold weather starts. OK once it warms up. But next year it will most likely get worse...
